Half of brf cake producing mushrroms and OTHER HALF grew new white puffy mycelium!!! HELP
    #14727368 - 07/06/11 05:31 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

Hello land of the wise men, I need some help. Newbie here of course. Only have two brf cakes going in terrarium.... half of each cake is growing nice mushrooms, and the other half grew new bright white puffy mycelium.... these cakes did pin early due to premature light exposure therefore they were birthed early but were almost fully colonized.... what do I do? Let each half fruit, and then dunk/roll for next flush?  Or will the other half catch up and I should just let it be?

Thanks in advance, how I admire you helpful people...

Don't dunk everything till its all picked, then you dunk/roll for your second flush. As far as the puffy white goes, that right there is cob web fungus! For that just mix 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 10 parts water in a spray bottle. shake well and lightly mist over the cobweb. I don't recommend using it to much because I do believe it can stun the growth of mycelium.

I'm still stuck on the premature light exposure thing. Since when does that cause primordia in the jar? :awewtf:

I let mine colonize start to finish in 24/7 6400k spectrum light.

Damn I don't know...I had them in darkness then accidentally left the room light on for 6 hours... two days later pins were forming...

It deff looks like cotton balls. still cobweb u think? Ill try to post a pic... when would u suggest cutting it off? After the flush is done?  I saw some threads on here that say it might be mycelium and will produce mushrooms. I'm confused.

Light will not cause them to start pinning in the jar and what you are seeing is aerial myc. No biggie--fan moar!

Here's a better one. I have a hepa filter connected... I don't know what u mean by fan more... I have the filter running 60 minutes twice a day... should I do more than that? Do I still have to fan? And if so, how do I do it?

You're totally fine. Everything is looking good. You would probably be fine with the filter running 60 minutes twice daily but I would worry about getting FAE on a less lengthy, more regular basis. Most people just fan 3-5 times a day by waving the tub lid vigorously over the tub for 60 seconds or so. They fan after misting to cause evaporation and promote more pinning. Good luck!
