    #14722821 - 07/05/11 09:44 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

alright the only cake that survived black mold is done colonizing after a week of lettin it sit there i made my chamber and its the poor mans one. I used perlite for it and well when i was gettin it out of the jar (1 pint) it cracked at the bottom. so i made 2 seperate chambers for em and i want to know something. 1. the perlite i used had been siting around for couple months and when i was washing it gettin ready to put it in the FC i noticed that some of the perlite was darker and some was blackish.. can perlite get black mold? and 2. when my cake cracked in half i noticed some very tiny black spots kind of like dots some oval some just look like really small gerbil shit... is that black mold cuz i never saw any on the outside and 3. i want to know how i should water the cakes and how often. 4. i know im supposed to fan 2 times a day but do i just need to open the cap and let it sit there and for how long. 7. around how long to they normaly take before they are ready to pick. 8. is it really true that wherever i touch on the cakes mushrooms will NOT grow because if it is i want to know how to deal with that due to having to get perlite of the cakes when i go to air them. please answer all of these questions yea theres a fuckin lot but then again its my first time growin so help me out fuckers :]

You will have to make your best MS paint copy-by-eye version then.

Black mold is the worst kind of mold (that I'm aware of, at least). If in doubt, just throw it out. Trust me, you do NOT want to eat the shrooms that grow off from that cake.

I don't even know why you kept the cake in the first place if it had "black mold" on it.

i kept it because this cake did not look like all the other cakes i had to throw out from black mold. first all the other cakes had signs of it growing before the cake was fully colonized secong when i opened the jars the dry verm layer had black mold obviously growing on it, this one didnt have signs on the sides or bottom or on the dry verm layer. and thanks for not answering even one of my questions.....

Dude all those questions are answered already, we all read to get those answers. I mean I was about to answer you until your last post. Stop being fucking lazy and read. Use the search function for those questions. I would start with looking up black mold, how deadly it is, and the fact that you only think you got rid of it.

dunk cakes 24 hours and roll in verm after birth

mist cakes and fan like hell every few hours until you see pins

then just mist the walls of the tub enough to keep condensation on the walls.

dont mist cakes once you see pins only walls

pick right before veil tears if eating

pick once they open up a bit if printing

this poster, however nice, is posting incorrect information.

first we'll start with the word condensation.

when water in the air (water vapor) comes into contact with a surface that is of a differing temperature, the water will CONDENSE out of the air and onto the surface.

this CONDENSING of the water out of the air is actually REMOVING water from the air. thus removing humidity.

what the poster is really referring to is not condensation at all, but you yourself misting the sides of your tub, and the water evaporating at such a slow rate, that some standing water remains on the sides.

this water did not condense out of the air, you sprayed it there with your mister.

now on to misting pins. mist your pins.
everyone here sprays water on their substrates from birth to harvest.
