Very cool mushrooms and nice photos, TimmiT. Love them crazy Cortinarii.

Man, why the Hell does Australia have sectioid everything?
And I agree with Thinker: that camera is just grand.

Thanks guys I'm loving the camera.
Even though I can't ID most of the secotioid things I think they're are really cool. We do seem to have a lot of them down here.

Austrailia got all the cool stuff. Kangaroos, Taipans, Steve Irwin ... just to name a few.

That's the truth! They've got more undiscovered species that can probably kill you than anywhere else (except maybe New Zealand).

The only poisonous thing I remember from NZ was one type of spider called a Katipo, which I've never seen!

I stand corrected! The government of New Zealand makes damned sure to dispel the stereotype of Australia.
Quote:
New Zealand has no harmful animals like poisonous snakes, scorpions or venomous insects, so its sole poisonous native spider – the rare katipō – has almost mythical status.

Yeah, we have plenty of poisonous animals. Deadly spiders are everywhere, especially redbacks. Even the innocent looking platypus is venomous.

That was the first Thaxterogaster I've found. It was just that solitary little mushroom growing under a fallen tree in an old goldrush era cemetary. I went out today and found a heap of them (I think the same species) on a rocky windswept ridge that I didn't expect to find any fungi.

Some more mushrooms...
Cortinarius sp.

Gymnopilus allantopus

Deconica sp.

Setchelliogaster sp. - another secotioid mushroom... I think this one is related to Descolea

Galerina marginata

Psilocybe subaeruginosa

Stereum illudens

Amanita xanthocephala

A very unhealthy Macrolepiota clelandii

A couple more Dermocybe clelandii

Really nice.
A. xanthocephala are among my favourites to find.
Were those Gyms on woodchip or a tree/stump/log?

The Amanitas are one of my favourties too.
The gyms were growing from woody debris (sticks, twigs, leaves, etc.) under eucalypts
