Sure, sometimes scientists disagree, but their disagreements stem from their subjective analysis of objective facts (i.e. scientific data) whose truth value, unlike theories, never changes. Shamans do not base their ideas on objective data acquired via the scientific method (or some other similarly-rational system), they merely base them on their own idiosyncratic subjective interpretations of reality, which generally persist even in the face of contravening evidence.

What exactly is your point again? shamans are not scientists so what? you figure they are irrational because they do not go beyond the scientifict method?

I figure they are irrational because--wait for it--they are irrational!

do you not see that massive limitations of science and raw data?

That's nothing compared to the massive limitations in shamanism.

I never said that science establishes anything (besides the data it collects) as fact.

You don't need science to know that shamans are irrational schizos..it's pretty much common sense.

Their symptoms are identical to the symptoms of schizos here..tell me, why can't they be schizos, while non self-proclaimed shamans who exhibit fundamentally similar symptoms are?

In other words tehy are irrational because you say so.

Yet you claim shamanism is dulussional so why? what established facts do you have that make you so positive shamans are irrational?

Not much different then your first argument. Completely nonsense, no different then the appeal to authority fallacy.

Sschizos all have extremely disorganized thought processes, this is not prominent in shamans. A schizo's perceptions of reality are not in touch with reality and this gap in perception from the truth can be known. It can be known that the schizo is rambling about nonsense where as we have no way of saying the shaman is dillusional because no fact undermines what they perceive.

This isn't a debate forum..if you're really interested in debating this issue, then quote your post in a new thread in PSP.

Where you have all your buddies to back up your belief system?
Sol demonstrated just how much your views are steeped in personal bias and cultural conditioning.

I agree with this Poid. We all have bias.  You personally don't really know what a shaman is experiencing or if they all have the same experience. I would expect some of them to be quite rational at least as much as most folk.

Are you kidding.  NO thread ever stays on topic for long. :ass:  btw you posting that is off topic so if you want you can get back on anytime by just ignoring posts you are not interested in.

I never said I wasn't interested in the topic... I'm extremely interested in the OP's original post, not so much about schizophrenic shamans.

Then do what he suggested and ignore posts that you are not interested in..I know you're from Tennessee, but still, it shouldn't be too difficult for you to understand just how simple it is to do that.

To anyone wanting to have an intelligent conversation on the OP's actual topic... You've come to the wrong place, the posters here would much rather argue on irrelevant issues so far off topic that you might as well change the title...

Threads always evolve from original topics. It's the nature of the forum. Especially in instances where the OP is so vague.

If you really cared about the OP, don't you think it would have been a better method to continue responding to it instead of making posts bitching about nothing?
