And FYI, if you feel like cleaning them, take scissors and clip the bottoms off or dry them then use a toothbrush on the bottoms. That's about all the cleaning they'll need.

even if you pick wilds off a pile of shit? i'd think they wouldnt be all that clean in that case and i'd deffinately not want to eat dust/poo residue ><

You're not supposed to wash or rinse mushrooms in any context. It does remove the actives, which is the reason that tea can be made from mushrooms.
That said, these might be still active, they're just not as active as they were before. Don't wash or rinse mushrooms in the future. If they need to be cleaned, use a DRY cloth.
