This is my first grow and I am loving this hobby so much! I'm reading/ learning everything on this website and I thank all of you. Sometimes at work I get distracted on my smart phone and get lost in the world or these forums. Anyways, Ive started different teks at different times. Pf being my first since its supposed to be the easiest for beginners. As of right now I have 16 cakes that are in a SG FC with 5-6 inches of perlite. It's a taller 106q bin.(about 18'' tall) 8 of the cakes have been in there for 6 days now and the other 8(different strain) for about 3 days. I waited a week after full col. and dunked for 24hr and then rolled. Also piled some extra verm on top. The cakes are all sitting on some shop cloth so they get plenty of exposure to the perlite. Now for my question. The past few days here in the midwest have been pretty hot and its only going to get worse outside. I do not have central air in my little apt. but I do have a window AC in my bedroom where the SG FC is located. The RH does great and stay 95-100% when the AC is off at night or when its cooler out. However, when I leave to work for 6-8hr I give it a good mist and then fan. When it's real hot out, in order to keep my temps mid 70's I turn the AC on. Then, when I get home my RH drops way down, close to 80. Ive also tried keeping a coolmist in the room while im gone but still does not reach 95 RH for the 6-8hr im gone. It does help a little though. (keeps RH near 90. Is this ok for pinning. Im so anxious to see those little guys. Im also very paranoid that I wont. Alright sorry for all the typing. I've also heard bottles of water in the freezer and hang them in your FC to cool it down. The problem I see with that though is my FC is packed with cakes, seems like the bottle would drip over one or two cakes from the condensation. Do any of you have any suggestions on what you would do? I just want to see those damn pins, more the merrier. Any advice/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, just to throw this in there. I've also started my first 10 quart jars of rye grain and seem to be going good. I think only one got contamed. I need to build a glove box yet. As of now I did the self healing lids with silicone and a 1/4 hole for GE. Also knocked up 9 other quarts and a pint of rye 2 days ago. I plan on trying out some Grain LC and GRG transfers on those. Also crumbled some cakes into poo which turned out great. Just put the casing layer on tonight. I have another sterilite for that FC. I also have a 4tier still in the box that I plan on using in the near future. This is so exciting. Once again I thank all of you and RR's DVD for providing me with a more easier visual learning experience. Now if I can just see some pins from those damn cakes I'll sleep better at night. Thanks again shroomery!!!

Not sure of your question but ill give it a shot...
how hot is it getting in the day? iv heard myc can take higher temperatures during the day, like in nature, so you might not need AC.
Maybe try not fanning before you leave. I dont think its as necessary with SHFC.
Id like someone with more experience to check/correct me on this but i think it is better to keep RH up, even with temp fluctuations, especially while trying to initiate pinning.
also, you should post some pin porn when they come up, if you can

It gets pretty hot in there during the day w/o the ac on. I've actually just moved them to the basement where its nice and cool. I just had to explain to the downstairs tenant why there's a fluorescent light on over a rubbermaid. They should be much happier down there. Thanks for the reply.
