I hear good things about Audacity. The de-facto standard in professional production is still Cubase, I think.

As far as I know, Cubase features everything. Both in terms of wave and MIDI. I don't think there's anything more versatile on the market. But you'd have to check the specs yourself.

Dude, Cubase 6 here cost 600 quid!


Do you know if program called Record by propellerhead same company behind reason features a editor?

Nope, sorry. I only remember Cubase from my IT days when every single audio professional I did business with used to use it. It's the Photoshop for audio engineers, I understand. Apart from that, I know fuck all about digital audio production.

if all you need to do is cut audio then why not just use Audacity?

cant hurt to try it.. its free.

Cubase is :awesome: but it can take a while to get all your tools installed into it.  I ran into some problems with a lot of vsts, it wants them in there tight.

Look into Mixcraft by Acoustica.  It's a simple look but if your sounds are good it doesn't matter, it's a great program.

I use Audacity under Linux for recording vinyl to FLAC, and it almost certainly does everything you need. Give it a shot :smile:
