Microwave oven pressure sterilisation?

If one were to microwave cakes in capped glass jars, would the pressure increase and subsequent rise in the boiling point of water allow the cake to reach sterilisation temperatures (250F), or would the jar be likely to explode?
I'd be interested in trying this, as I don't own a pressure cooker, and it'd be simple and effective, but I'm not going to try it if my microwave oven door is at stake
Assuming all of the matter to be sterilised is >=250F, how long should it remain that way before it can be assumed sterile?

The jar would likely explode. As to what pressure (and hence temperature) it would reach, you have to ask the jar manufacturer. This is an experiment I wouldn't try, more than the microwave door would be at stake (IMHO).

Micro sterilization seems like it should work, but it doesn't. Too bad

I've seem microwave "pressure" cookers and wondered if they work. Small but looks like half pints would fit. Anyone tried these?

If you can't buy a PC, you're just going to have to stick with BRF cakes. Those micro-PCs will probably work with BRF, but I wouldn't trust it for grains.

I have had good results with it (using the shallow glad disposable microwave containers - deep containers don't allow the microwaves to penetrate sufficiently), better in fact than boiling jars.

Yeah not to mention if you use metal lids, you'll see lots of sparks. I had corn dogs w/ plastic wrappers that were tied on by a metal twist tie once. Didn't notice the twist tie was there and threw the whole thing in the microwave. When I came back to get my corn dog, the twist tie had completely disintigrated and blew up the stick right at the base of the corn dog. Imagine what a kerr jar lid could do....

I've heard that newer microwaves don't have that nasty interaction with metal that older ones did, but that info could very well be wrong. I don't see a way to sterilize the material in the jars. If you laid it out flat (maybe an inch or so deep) in a plastic tray and had some excess water in there that could cook out, you could nuke it until it steamed, but I don't know if even that would do it.
