inoculation question please

alright i'm doing some jars...did everything except i forgot to put two holes on the jar lids....
they are already inoculated ...i was wondering if it is ok to punch a second hole in there..or is it better to just let it be...

Well... this has never hapenned to me but I guess you could steam sterilize a nail and then clean with 99% isopropyl the nail and the hammer and punch some holes. However idk if it'll break the glass jar...

I have put holes in my lids when they where attached to the jars and I didn't break any just be gentle, I have never done it with the jars already going though so I guess that part is up to you good luck.

You should just leave things be. You are going to take the nail and push it thru the lid and disturb the dry verm layer which is your filter and possibly push a contam down into the jar. Its not the biggest deal that you are only going to have two inoculation points instead of 4.

Doesnt sound like a pf jar? If its grain your going to have to be very carefull.
Best option would be to make up a new lid, pressure cook it wrapped in foil and put a new lid on, making sure to use a glovebox and hve gloves on wiped down with IPA, dont forget to wipe your jar down with IPA aswell.

I think he has grain jars and only made one hole for innoc, and no vent. If thats the case, noobie mistake. I think you should wait til 50% and then let it get some air by injecting steril air of making a filter in front of the flowhood. You should make clearer what your situation is.

Don't punch holes in already sterilized and inoculated medium jars. Being that the jars are already inoculated, if you did not fit the lids to the jars rubber side down, for this grow, I'd just give the jars rings a small twist, loosening them a hair.
Although sub-par, this will allow for GE and thwart direct paths for contaminate spores from being allowed to land on your substrate and infect.
BE SURE to punch 2 holes and adhere the proper filter material (for GE) on lids BEFORE fitting them to jars loaded with freshly cooked grains, and PRIOR to sterilization, on your next grow.
