temps are way to high. You want room temp 74ish.
Contams flourish @ higher temps.
Also, you should've gotten the short wide mouth 1/2 pint jars. Taller ones are finicky & normally result in under 100% colonized substrate.

yea i know on both counts i just couldn't find the short jars and i am limited on a place to keep them. I just lost patients and will be happy if i get any positive results. Hopefully it will be a learning experience, if nothing else.

GL man. I've never stored a jar/bulk substrate beyond 78.

At 85-90 they will stall bad. You could use an ice chest to help keep it cool just dont place them straight on the ice. Or just get an AC unit.

okay i'm taking the advice. not sure if i can maintane the temp 24-7 but i can try. they are still colonizing a the 80-90 degree temp but i believe you all that it is too hot. I will have to move them and i'm a little nervouus about contaminating them by moving around. I store them in my glove box so i can just move the whole thing. Thinking about starting my fruiting chamber today.

Spores germinated and colonized that much in 4 days? Hell I'm still waiting for spores to germinate on some agar plates and it's been 6 days already with no signs. (of course the print was 3 years old but still)
I'd have to say that it's BECAUSE of the high temps. Cubes are a SUMMER mushroom and grow a lot in Texas where temps often go above 100 degrees! Maybe growing indoors temps above 78 are a hazard but I can't really see any other explanation for that quick germination time other than the high temps. If this really is 4 days from start we aren't seeing stalling at 90 degrees we are seeing the opposite, and as TL pointed out, this can be hazardous to an indoor grow.
I've used the tall 1/2 pint jars and the short ones and found that as long as they were both in fact 1/2 pints, colonization was about the same.
Ease up on the temps if you can but expect to see growth slow down a bit when/if you are able to bring temps down, don't freak out when it does.

These are one week. three are doing well it seems but one is showing very little. i leave the tape on but i let them breath in my glove box every couple days with the lids cracked. they really grew a lot in the last 3 days. and the temp is now around 75 all the time.

90 degrees indoors and there's nothing you can do about that? I'm feelin for you more than those jars! They look like they are doing good tho. In the meantime my thoughts will be with you for no human should have to deal with 90 indoors ever.
