Grain clumping
    #14710513 - 07/03/11 10:45 AM (13 years, 6 months ago)

Post Pc'ing and my grains are clumped bad, is there a good way to get them broken up?  Could I sterilize a skewer and shove it through the polyfil?

I guess you didn't watch RRs videos on grain prep. Shaking is the better option but try not to get the polyfil wet while you do it.
Check out www.mushroomvideos.com for the proper way to prepare grains.

Are they sticking because of burst kernels,if you didn't rinse them good before the soak all that chaff and powderedgrain residue will turn into a glue when you do the boil

Shaking isn't working at all, I've tried that.  The problem is the grain itself I think, and I probably should have used a little more gypsum or some verm.  However, my concern is on these jars now and whether someone has successfully fixed this before.

You can try beating the jars against something firm but not too hard to break them up...it couldn't hurt to try...Just don't break them.

Good idea but too late, still think it was too clumped though... oh well, that's the fun I guess.  This is my first grow in like three years though, I'm excited to be back at it :headbanger:
