In need of HELP!! First bulk project...is this cobweb? (pics)

I cheese grated 12 half pint brf cakes to a Damions 5050 tek substrate on 6/28. I know I shouldn't be peeking so soon but it's my first spawn to bulk and I had to see where I was at. I was shocked with what I found. I am extremely nervous that this is cobweb mold. Can anyone confirm that? And if so what should I do to combat it and how can I go about avoiding it in the future. What causes the stuff? Please help!!!

My best guess is it'll be ok. If it starts going aerial and looks like THIS then its def cobweb but remember mycel will reach out about a few mm. check out this informational i found on contaminates and how to identify them HERE

Ok cool. I keep an eye to make sure it doesn't start growing up too vertically. Do you think it's ready for fruiting conditions?

Looks like it will be Pin City in about 5-7 days.

Just for the record, even though I have yet to utilize my awesome new unused quart jars for wbs yet, this method of cheese grating cakes worked remarkably! I literally had a mountain of spawn and when I mixed it in there were so many colonization points. I mean we're not even talkin 5 full days yet! So my newbie suggestion for anyone more newb than me thats thinking about bailing on pf tek grow and move onto bulk, I say GRATE GRATE GRATE!

L L personally I'm a grain guy. It's easy to crumble or keep it as a cake

oh I don't argue that one bit. I actually have my grain jars set up with some really nice self healing injection port and synthetic filter disk lids. Just haven't used them. I was gonna do this (my 2nd grow) like did my first one but while my jars were colonizing I decided I wanted to try a bulk sub. Thats the only reason I grated the cakes. All I was trying to say to people is that if you find yourself in the same situation I recommend grating the cake over crumbling or slicing etc. I will be doing LC > quart jars of wbs from now on.

I wasn't aware you can keep a grain jar as a cake. I know my quart jars have a tapered shoulder so I'm not even sure how I would birth them in one piece.

BRF makes better cakes if you want a cake b/c of the nuts per pound. WBS has less nuts per pound but make excellent spawn because its easy to break down into perfect size inoculation points and its easy to tell when they reach 100% where as cakes the inoculation points are whatever size you break the cake down into and if you run into a spot in the middle that happend to still be un-colonized then there is a greater chance for contamination.

Yep, I'm currently working on a ten grain tek. we'll c how it goes for a cake. To make it easier I use wide mouth cuz you can do whatever you wish. Popcorn is also a good one for spawn to transfer to bulk.
