Can you use Shotgun Fruiting Chamber for Bulk too?
    #14708131 - 07/02/11 07:41 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

I just started my first pf tek. I am getting ready to sterilize my jars and then go buy my shotgun tub. Well, I just read about these bulk methods and I was wondering if I can build a tub that can do pf tek and bulk methods?

Thanks.

No. You can fruit small trays in your SGFC, but a true mono-tub will require different
hole placement.

One or two really large SGFCs will keep you busy for your first several grows... After playing with 1/2 pint cakes; you can start making small trays with broken up cakes in the same FCs... Plus; a good stepping stone into true bulk grows

There are many SGFC style "monotubs". The original had big holes stuffed with polyfil but one with SGFC holes all over will certainly work for bulk as well.

Ok, I guess when the time comes I can try it out.

If you tape off up to the 4 inch mark on both sides with some garilla tape you can convert a SGFC into a MonoSGFC. Tubs are cheap tho.

this was kind of how i did my first mini double tubs. I intended on doing more dub tubs but more of shotgun style to see how the performed and if they would still maintin enough humidity with alot of holes.

I used a couple rows of 1/8th inch holes instead of 1/4 inch, also had a tub with a couple rouws of 1/4 inch holes on each side of the tub.

These worked out very well. No tape no polyfill.

Yes, SGFC's, designed per the tek, CAN be applied to bulk growing methods.

However, bulk growing methods are best suited for grain spawn over crumbled BRF cakes.

You could convert a SGFC to a hybrid MSG painlessly.

Is it really that hard to come up with $8 to build a tub that is designed specifically for
the application?

No, but I have my jars sanitized for my first pf tek and I am going to get my tote tomorrow and I don't really want to have 2 big tubs lying around. Money is NOT an issue at all. Was just hoping to save space.
