Individual grains only 50% colonized.i

Ive got some 6 quart rye bags. Some of the individual grains against the bag are only 50% colonized. I did a shake and its happened again. Only a couple, but there there..
I cant see any contams, everything else is fine.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

How did you inoculate the bags?

Tested LC, with success in other quart jars. Impulse sealed, inoculated through the bag in front of a laminar flow hood, taped, then sealed again below the tape, excess trimmed
Thanks

Tested, like all the way to fruiting? LC is always the first suspect, and almost always it's the culprit.

Some contaminations can hide, even throughout colonization. I dont know how, but they do.

Not tested all the way to fruiting no, but tested on agar and many other grain jars which are 100% colonized now, just waiting to spawn. No signs of contams in the Jars/Plates

Ok, then what you have is "untested LC". It's rare-but-possible for a culture to lack the genetics for fruiting. More likely: a subtle contamination.

Meanwhile, agar->grain->g2g is the best way to approach bags.

I know that is the general consensus with experienced cultivators, but side by side with jars inoculated with wedges, I see faster results with LC, due to more inoculation points.
Im continuing to use both methods until I find what works best for me, as Time isnt more important than reliabilty

If you get one grain jar to colonize you can turn that jar into 1000 with g2g transfers...and it is quick. I keep some grain jars in a mini fridge ready to inoculate 10 jars each whenever I please. LC is too risky, when you end up loosing a ton of jars after much hard work you'll realize why the pros don't use LC. If you have a flow hood it is a no brainer.

I wasnt dismissing your help. I guess agar > quart jar > G2G to more quarts > spawn bags, is the best way to go about it. I stopped growing for a long time, and before I was just using MS into jars and G2G. Im just getting back into it.
Ive got some plates to inoculate my next set of jars, so i'll do that. Problem is quart jars here are £2.50 or $4 USD so Id best shell out, ive not got enough jars atm
Thanks

Yup, im in the UK, canning isnt a big thing so mason jars are more of a novelty/decorative item. I could use regular jars I guess but once youve used mason jars you cant go back

10 bucks?? For 12 new jars? Jesus, its £25 here which is currently $40 or $50 including shipping.
It might even work out cheaper to get them posted from the US :S
