My wife and I were layin in bed getting ready to watch a movie on iTunes we rented. I started it when we settled in and the download was at about 1/3 done with a half-hour left. When it started the framerate was shit and the audio was all choppy/out of sync with the video. I checked all the settings and nothing was wrong. Two days before this we did the same thing and I had no problems. We even watched a movie over our HomeShare 4 days before with no problems.
I couldn't be sure or not if I had set my HDD to compress the entire disk or not but wondered if that was it since CPU/Mem were all fine and not under any major load. When the movie finished it worked fine.
That freaked me out a bit since I've been having shitty luck with my network this year. So after the movie I went out to my newest baby. That PC is hooked up via HDMI to my HDTV. I've literally watched 90% of the movies on that computer, and the previous day a TV show, with not one problem. Well, I started to watch Silent Hill and the sound started to fuck up. The video starts fine and then the sound either gets choppy (cuts out for a second or two) or out of sync with the video such that the sound is like 3 seconds ahead of what is going on in the video.
So this is me right now:
Fucking rootkit bullshit wasted so much of my fucking time! I spent a few hours running bootable antivirus programs and everything came back fine, the computers run fine, and I wiped every fucking drive in Linux before looking at anything Windows.
What the fuck is going on? I know sound settings can fuck with iTunes if you have an effect enabled in your audio card or something and iTunes has something else set. My drivers are up to date and I tried setting all the sound stuff back to default... no go. My sound is routed from the PC to a 5.1 surround sound system so the TV speakers aren't used, however the same thing happens if I use the AMD HD Audio over HDMI. WTF? I've tried everything on Apples iTunes tech database.
How do two computers that ran shit fine all of a sudden fuck up?
There have been about 3 crashes that resulted in a reboot since formatting. None give anything specific, but I was getting shitty performance from my 12 GiB RAM (like a dumbass I bought two packs of 3 x 2 GiB sticks of G.Skill Ripjaw. So I've been fucking with the RAM voltages and was curious if RAM bus voltage or QPI voltage could maybe cause this? The clocks are set at what G.Skill specifies CAS 9.
I'm not getting anywhere with this crap. Windows update was the ONLY thing I did on my desktop, so that's why I have a hard time thinking it's the RAM since it's been fine for weeks.

OK, so I finally found some posts last night with people that have the same motherboard as my desktop and version of iTunes. Apparently there are a lot of 64-bit Windows users that have this exact same problem... literally the people describe the problem exactly on the Apple support forums, and big surprise!... Apple hasn't said shit about it in like a month.
It makes no sense to me because it worked fine for a while as I've had this version of iTunes since reinstalling everything. There have been a few Windows updates but that's about it. The other weird thing was my event logs... going through it in AIDA64 I found some events that mentioned the Bonjour service was causing severe network traffic or something.
There have been a few minor Windows updates but that's it so IDK wtf it could be. Hopefully a new version of iTunes will be released, but in the meantime I'm going to try uninstalling Quicktime and reinstall it. Worth a shot since this bullshit software won't allow me to view the fucking hundreds of $ I spent on Movies/TV Shows.
