A woman looking for an extreme energy boost ended up in a hospital after binging on several cans of 5-Hour energy drinks, according to a Journal of Medicine Report.
The 22-year-old woman went to the hospital complaining of stomach pains, nausea, vomiting and a fever. The woman was run through a series of midsection scans that came back negative and she was sent home. But she returned later with worsening pain and a case of jaundice.
Doctors later diagnosed her with acute hepatitis, but were still stumped at the source -- until the woman told doctors that she had been drinking 10 bottles of 5-Hour Energy drinks per day for the previous two weeks.
Health officials suspect the woman got too much Vitamin B3 -- also known as niacin -- from the drinks. One bottle of the drink contains 30 mg of niacin --- well within safe levels, but doctors think when she was consuming 300 mg of niacin over an extended time it was causing liver problems. The woman fully recovered after her liver enzymes returned to normal.
But whether she's slept since, is not known...

Surprised someone hasn't been able to cook up a new drug out of 5 hour energy drinks or something like that...I'm sure anything based off an energy supplement would be a pretty powerful stimulant.

Also further evidence fueling my future tin foil hattery with the whole "suddenly everything has niacin" escapade.
Seriously that shit was not on bottles but until like 3 years ago.

How did she not make a connection between her habit and her condition? This is a classic example of how uneducated we have become.
Just because they sell it on shelves doesn't mean it's as inert as water.
I think I'm starting to understand where the prohibitionists are coming from... If we let these retards do what they want, their corpses will litter the street.
Protect the workers! BAN FIVE HOUR ENERGY!!!

do these drinks carry warnings? in australia they carry a small warning on energy drinks, i think redbull small cans (270ml) carry a tiny warning saying "not to drink more than 2 (or 3, i can't remember) a day".

I will make the outragous claim that drinking bootleg liquor is better for you than that that energy crap on average. alcohol is just one poison. those things contain 100s.

Supposedly 80% of all dollar bills contain trace amounts of cocaine as well.
