in that case your needle should be freshly sterile already and there is no need to flame it. You dont need to sterilize a sterile syringe. You should be using a new needle or one you just pressure cooked wrapped in foil.

i just boil syringes and needles for 10-15 minutes, let cool, and ive never had any problems. PCing them works too, but when im in a hurry i just boil.

now i see the obvious blue injection ports, but what is that circle in the middle? i know theres some kind of material you can use for gas exchange.
im looking for the cheapest way to allow gas exchange in my jars.
i making 50 jar lids, each with one injection port and an air exchange filter. i was originally thinking of using .22 micron filter discs, but thats 2.35 a piece. if theres any way to do the same thing cheaper, let me know!!!
thanks

yea im looking those up right now. looks like ill need to buy a pack of 12 and just cut my own out of them. i was thinking this stuff would come in sheets like felt or something.
oh well. this is way cheaper than buying 50 filter discs. and theyll be able to stack on top of each other easier. just gotta figure out how large of a hole i should drill in each jar for the air filter.

Try searching E-Z Felt filter disk, I've seen a thread where they use it, and it comes in sheets

Yup, Yup!... Just a wide-mouth sized synthetic filter disk that has been cut up into "silver dollar" sized disks
