Huatla won't fruit?
    #14700712 - 07/01/11 08:01 AM (13 years, 6 months ago)

Hi everyone.

I used the PF-TEK and have 4 1/2 pint jars of Huatla and 8 1/2 pint jars of Golden Teacher.  Everything colonized perfectly and they were allowed to hang out in their jars for an extra week to consolidate.  After I birthed them, I cold shocked/dunked them for 24 hours and then rolled them in dry vermiculite.

My shotgun fruiting chamber is at about 98% humidity and between 75-80 degrees farenheit during the day, 65-75 at night.

My Golden Teacher cakes are fruiting like crazy - it's out of control.  My Huatla cakes are doing nothing.  No pins, no contamination, just sitting there.  They've been there for about 10 days now.

What am I doing wrong?  How can some cakes in the terrarium be in full fruiting mode and the other ones not doing anything?  Does Huatla need special care that I don't know about?  I find it hard to believe that it's a bad spore syringe when colonization went so well without any jars lost to contamination.

Some insight/tips would be very helpful.  Thank you!

Just be patient. Your fruiting conditions are correct. Also, cold shock is useless for cubes.

I had some Creeper cakes sit for 14 days with nothing.  I finally decided to dunk them again & now they are pinning extensively.

I hope its just a waiting game... it would suck if something was wrong with the 4 jars.  It's just weird because I've grown before and never have I had to wait so long.  I've never grown Huatla before and I didn't know if it was something particular to this strain.  Oh well.

Is it worth it to wash off the vermiculite and re-dunk overnight?  Would that harm anything/set me back at all?

I had 12 BRF half pints of Huautla that were in fruiting conditions for five weeks and never got as much as a single pin on them, I got frustrated and put them in my outside garden and after another week or so I finally got one flush of some crazy mid sized potent as hell beauties!! And when I say potent I mean gone insane on 6 G's of dry potent!! But the wait was extremely to long for my standards. My advise would be to hold out a little while longer and not to let them dry out. Good luck and happy viewing.:mushroom2:
