old spawn still useful? shelf life questions
    #14696582 - 06/30/11 11:44 AM (13 years, 6 months ago)

So a while back I had the great idea to use BRF as my substrate in a jar transfer, obviously not much happened. Are the broken chunks of spawn in the jars surrounded by more BRF still good? I plan on splitting them into Mycobags, probably one grain heavy. So is my spawn still useful? Which mycobag is best for my purposes?

I had another half pint PF jar that colonized and pinned in the jar but I never took it out hoping to keep some spawn. Is there a shelf life to it or will the yield be affected by its age?

Nothing happened? IF nothing happened then that jar is done for throw the contents out and wash it.

As far as on your shelf, that jar might be ok to spawn, but sounds like its been sitting a bit too long to expect optimal results.

well the brf is too dense for a jar transfer like that but i think the chunks of spawn inside are still healthy. theres definitely no fungal contam either.
