Habitat pics during unsuccessful hunt today
    #1469180 - 04/18/03 03:11 AM (14 years, 14 days ago)

Can anyone tell I enjoy using my new digital camera? Sorry if it's boring (just don't click on the thread next time!)

Anyway, here they are.

This is probably the most worked-over field in my area (which still isn't very worked over), because it's right in the middle of the suburbs. Mind you, I often find good amounts of Copelandia Cyanescens here, but not today - I think the dung-lover season is over down here. Either that, or it's was just too wet, it's been pissing down for days. Temperature range is averaging about 17 deg C at night to 23 deg C during the day (62-73 F), with variation of a few degrees. I found a few water logged, tattered non-active mushrooms. What do you think, time to give up?

Ahhh. Home sweet home.

I crept up on this little fella while he was have a snooze. Bolted at the sound of the camera click tho.

Ohhh....so purty

Beautiful pictures!
I heard that rabbits are quite hated down there, so you don't even make chocolate easter bunnies. Is that true?

Yeah, rabbits are not well liked down here. They live in plague proportions and compete with native, endangered wildlife such as bilbies, bandicoots and marsupial & kangaroo mice.

We still do have easter bunnies, but they're fast becoming unpopular in the wake of the 'easter Bilby'.

I'm not a big fan of wild rabbits at all, I value our native animals too much.

I have that aAustralian film about the little girl swho shoots her father with a shotgun for taking her pet rabbit inthe fiftiers and giving it to be oput to sleep.

It was during the time when there were bounties on unregistered rabbits.

When I find it in my storage I will tellyou the name of the movie.

Sounds like you guys gotta unite and kill some bunnies! That would be sweet to have an australia-wide rabbit hunt where everybody goes out once a month for a year to hunt rabbits. I wonder if it would be possible to cause rabbit extinction there..

If it is, it would probably be welcomed. They've already introduced diseases etc. to try and control them. Not that I'm in for killing cute little creatures, but when it saves the lives of other cute, endangered creatures, I think it's all justified...
