Liquid Substrate Question

So I currently have 12 freshly-picked wild cubes and I want to clone it using a liquid substrate (honey/water). Once it fully colonizes it, can I begin fruiting in the liquid or do I have to transfer it to a solid medium?
If I have to transfer to a solid medium, can I use a dry cow patty?
Thanks for your support, people!

I think what you are talking a about us a liquid culture. You use those to colonize other substrates. If you manage to make a working culture, you can use it for any tek you see fit to try out. LC's take the place of spores.

thanks for your response
I see...so using liquid culture is an easier way to get a substrate colonized?
And what about cow patties? I live on a farm, and shrooms pop up on them occasionally, but as far as making a substrate from cow dung, what would you suggest?

Yes, that is correct.
As for preparing substrates, there are plenty of teks on this website. Search around and see what you find!
And welcome!

You can NOT take a wild specimen and clone it to LC.

Well sorta ... You can make a LC and try it but it will most likely contaminate. Wild mushrooms are notoriously dirty. Your best bet is to get a spore print from one, transfer to agar and isolate it from the contaminates.
Or just buy a spore syringe and make a LC from that.

Cloning and fruiting wild mushrooms is complicated. It requires working with agar, strain isolation, pressure cooking, spawning to grain, casing and fruiting. The best bet for a noob is to buy a spore syringe and use the PF tek. That method is easy as pie. Here is a how to video on the PF tek. http://www.mushroomvideos.com/BRF-Pf-Tek

If you find a wild specimen, cloning to agar would be worth the work. Steep learning curve but a great payout. And it's truly not all that hard.
