Quickest Way (Spores -> Shrooms)

A FOAF asked me the other day, what is the fastest way from spores to a shroom?
He has some experiences with basically all the teks, however, as he always tries something new he has a hard time deciding.
The reason is that he is going to vacations in about a month.
So he was thinking about this: Rye quarts (10 days) Straigh cased (3+7 days) Fruiting + epsom drying (10 days)
This isn't going to be ideal, since he will discard the whole grow after first flush (probably).
Do you think it's doable? Do you think there's a quicker method?

Fastest from spores > harvest, PFtek. but it's still probably going to take longer than a month.
I doubt you'll get fully colonized rye from spores in 10 days.

spores to shrooms is normally in the range of 6-8 weeks using mono tubs.
PF tek would be quicker for sure, because you skip the spawning to bulk process.
MS on rye is normally 3-5 weeks for full colonization.

From his experience, colonization of cakes is slower than colonization of properly prepared rye, which is fairly quick. With a little luck he gets 10 - 14 days even on MS.
Where did I mentioned anything about spawning? Since you cant really fruit rye alone, he planed to quickly case them with 1/2" of peat/verm.
Basically, he believes he can do it. The only uncertain thing is how long is it going to take for the casing to start fruiting.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe it. 10 days for MS. It just doesn't sound right to me. Unless you're keeping them @ an extremely high temp, which increases the chances for contams.
Spawning to bulk w/ grains is what most do. You get more fruits by doing this.
Simply cased grains don't retain enough water to produce large flushes.

That's what he said. He has pretty hot room because it's hot here and he has no A/C.
He knows that bulk is the way to go, but at this moment he doesn't care about the yield as long as there is some in time.
He promised to keep you posted no matter what happens

Nothing to add....just here to see 10 day colonization of rye grains from spores.
....and fruits from non-spawned grains.

wait. I thought you said 2 weeks...
35 days is right around standard for bulk

Make a mini-monotub and take the whole tub with you. Harvest and enjoy the fresh fruits. Leave the substrate in the forest/park/field of wherever you are... I'm not saying it's the best idea; but it's an idea ;-)

The controversial part (the grain colonization) was said to be 10 to 14 days. And then additional 20 (19) days for casing and fruiting.

It takes me 3 weeks for jars w/ LC & 2 weeks for colonization+consolidation then 5 days for fruits.
35-40 days is pretty standard.
IDK where the delay is coming in with your "friend"
Also, no reason to case.

Well about casing. Grains won't be spawned to bulk (trying to get a few days here). Since it's impossible to fruit grains alone it a thin layer of casing will be added.
Will this work out as the quickest method?

I think spawning to bulk is just as quick. Use a high ratio (1:1) & you'll be harvesting 18-21 days after spawning as long as your moisture content is right in the bulk.

This was stated to the OP in the first two replies; he then responds with: "From his experience, colonization of cakes is slower than colonization of properly prepared rye, which is fairly quick. With a little luck he gets 10 - 14 days even on MS."
.....and then we were like:
