Strawbed rehabilitation help needed
    #1468625 - 04/17/03 11:00 PM (15 years, 2 months ago)

So my FOAF has a strawbed (100% wheat straw, spawned with cakes and cased with 50/50+). The strawbed has resided in a large closet wardrobe terrarium for about a month now and has unfortunately been the victim of the experimentations of a less experienced cultivator. The bed was looking quite nice a couple weeks ago, and then my FOAF began to experiment and ended up causing his humidity to drop way too much and allowed far too much fresh air in. A very nice looking pinset was decimated, with only 7-8 mature fruits. The tiny pins were observed over a period of time, and once it was apparent that they were beginning to grey they were picked.

Humidity problems have now been corrected. My friend just picked the dead pins off tonight and misted the barely moist casing. There are some pins/fruits growing on it right now, maybe 4 mid-size and some small clusters of active pins which are isolated and mostly towards the sides of the container. My FOAF has heard that strawbeds rarely give a good 2nd flush... is there anything he can do to rescue this poor bed and get some type of decent flush off of it??

Also are the tiny little pins (of which he picked hundreds of) worth drying/keeping? We're talking something the size of 1/3 inch for most of them.
