Pan Casing

I have my first Pan Cambo tray in fruiting. My casing layer was very very thin, I made it as thin as possible. I'd say it's no more than a quarter inch. The mycellium quickly shot straight up through it.
They've been in fruiting for about 3-4 days now, no signs of pins. Should I case them again?
Thanks

No. Wait more. Panaeolus species are usually pretty quick if conditions are right.

I am keeping it between 70-75 degrees. 95 percent RH. Plenty and plenty of fanning. Tiny specs of moisture remain constant on the casing and visible mycelium but it is not at all saturated.
Really it's just in my automated greenhouse Rye grain spawn, spawned to wheat and barley straw. Peat moss casing. Here's to hoping!

It'll come 70F is a bit low, try to bump up temperature if possible to the mid-high 70s.

do pans do well with WBS spawned to poo/verm/gypsum? I have a few types of pans I'm about to start and want to make sure they like WBS... also, is hydrated Lime a must? I can get it, just would rather not have to go grab it...

I read one post that said rye works better than wbs. I haven't tried pans yet so I can't verify this either way

pans love pasteurized substrate ,wbs works fine.
hydrated lime is for pH,it works good against mold in casings
try limestone

Well since pans require casing, I plan to use some Jiffy as a casing (unless verm/peat works better). Should I be adding Lime to the casing only then? I don't have limestone, but I have access to about 4000 pounds of powdered lime for free.
I could grab some ph testers and adjust the ph if needed, I'm just trying to figure out how important ph is for Pans.
If this is something I should do in order to boost yields, what should the adjusted ph level be? for both substrate and casing?

Verm/peat/hydrated lime is what you want to use. Adding the hydrated lime to your casing is important, but you don't need to ph test it. I've used wbs and rye for pans, but rye always outperforms the wbs.

Sweet man! What % should I mix in the hydrated lime? any certain amount per ml/qt of h2o?

I didn't add any hydrated lime. I figured it was beneficial but not necessary, and I didn't know where to get it.

Well please post some pics as they start to pin, I'd like to see how well it does without messing with Lime... I've seen results with lime so I kinda know what to expect in terms of flushes and pinsets....

They've started to pin just barely. Only about a handful of tiny ones starting to show. The cube tray next to them is getting a move on for the past two days now.
Boy am I happy! but... there's one concern. I thought pans were silver/gray... their pins look like cubes to me... it's a lighter brown tip than most cubes I've seen but still. By the time I took the spawn out of the jars the cubes were pinning inside and the pans were showing no signs of that. It was a lot easier to break apart just as I expected.
It's possible that I made a mistake somewhere labeling a syringe or something... but I doubt it.
I'll get to pictures later.

Here they are!
They look exactly like cubensis to me... but they certainly behave a little differently. Perhaps I just have to let them mature more for them to start looking like what I'm expecting. I already have a print I took from an early shooter-upper.

Yea. Fuck. Haha. I wonder how I messed that one up... I must have labeled the syringe wrong after I sucked up the culture. Well... I have more spawn bags on the way now. I am pretty damn sure I didn't make this mistake this time. Plus the bag is colonizing WAY faster than the others, and the mycellium looks ghostly. SO.... I'll update you all in a month or two! *Facepalm*

I am not going to comment on other mis-labeling their materials.
It happens. ;0)
Nice looking work though. I look forward to some pans!
