North Central Alabama - Morning Mushroom Hunt
    #14685387 - 06/28/11 09:23 AM (5 years, 3 months ago)

My friend and I found these in young hardwood forest and some in open grass at about 10 AM.  We had light rain yesterday morning and a few days before we had a good rain as well.  I've put numbers on the pictures to give some order. The number 8 Pictures were found in my front yard growing in pine straw/dirt.  For future reference are there any books out there that would help us identify these on our own? Thanks in advance.

2,5,7 are an agaricus species. 6 is an agrocybe. 8 maybe a Chlorophyllum species.

3,5,7 are Agaricus like maynard said. or atleast i think he meant 3 instead of 2. Although 2 is probably also an Agaricus

8 looks like Chlorophyllum to me also.

Thank you both for your comments, I enjoy looking up and reading about your responses. I think for the next hunt we plan on getting habitat shots and spore prints as well.

A good book I use as a reference is Mushrooms of the Southeastern  United States.

If your looking for actives I'd recommend Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World.

Good luck!
