Yolo county outdoor inoculation?
    #1468205 - 04/17/03 07:40 PM (15 years, 13 days ago)

We have hot summers here and I was wondering if p.cyansescens would do well in rosebeds filled with woodchips?

1) what would the preferred methods of inoculation be from spore print?
2) would they grow on pine shavings and chicken manure?
3) if not, what active species would?
4) would misters and other artificial environmental regulators ( shading, soil amendments etc) be beneficial?

Thanks all.

innoculate a grain based substrate

let it colonize

dunk it for about 12 hours before birthing

Dig a hole about 12 inches deep

Put some woodchips into the hole to cover the bottom of the hole. Use woodchips that have been soaked in water (you want them to be moist, not dripping wet)

Then throw your colonized cake ontop of the wood chips (it's up to you wheather or not you wish to crumble the cake before doing so)

Now cover the cake with woodchips so that the hole is filled

And when nature takes it coures, you should see some promising results. If it becomes dry in your area, and the woodchips in the hole appear to be completely dry, use a water hose to spary water over the wood chips to keep them moist.

Peace out,
