Jiffy Mix = 50/50+?
    #1467792 - 04/17/03 05:36 PM (15 years, 12 days ago)

Is Jiffy mix just premade 50/50+ (verm, peat moss, lime)?
If so why would anyone bother buying the ingredients seperately to make 50/50+?
If anyone knows where this can be bought please tell me I havent found any yet.

it would make sense that buying separately would be cheaper and you need to buy verm anyway, and 10$ of lime will last a lifetime for a cultivator.

my friend uses jiffy-mix professional with great results. it says right on the bag "50% verm, 50% peat and lime added to adjust pH." he found it at an agway gardening store. 4 bucks for a huge bag. the whole thing is, there is no need to adjust the pH. proly cheaper to make your own.

I hear you there Robbyrob, i have not looked for it yet but i'm really not going to i have about 4lbs of peatmoss and a big ass bag of horticultural vermiculite thats more than enough for even the 1qt jars and case probably 3 dozen qts but thats not counting on the mixing of the BRF and Verm, but anyway thats still good.

What is casing with jiffy mix compared to casing with horse dung. Like potent, size, fruts and stuff like that. Which one do you think works better?
