using dung indoors...
    #1467384 - 04/17/03 03:32 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

ok my friend just got alot of aged, leached dung (OGBD), but doesn't have a PC. does anyone know if he can use it as an additive to pf jars? he's worried about contams in the manure because> no PC. Was thinking pastuerize in the oven at 200 degrees for like 3-4 hours before adding it to the pf formula, and then steam sterilizing the jars, like he always does. Just planning on using a couple tablespoons per jar. Does this sound ok to ya'll?

this is my first post here. i'm known as trinity at the nook but someone has that name already here. hello everyone !!!

hello mossie, and welcome  :cool:

a better way to use the dung, ime, is to do the pf jars as normal, to pasteurise the dung as you suggest (but 170, not 200, and 90 mins is enough unless you have 10 kilos), then to grate the fully colonised pf cake with a cheesegrater, and spawn it into the dung - mix it well.

leave this to colonise for 7-10 days, then case, then fruit. you will get far more fruit than by making a cake this way. good luck!

dung is a bulk substrate. you pasteurize it at 150-170 degrees F. then after it cools, you mix it with grated PF cake or colonized grain. after the mycelium runs through it, you case it.

adding a little poo to your PF jars to beef them up sounds like it might be a good idea though. try it out.

you don't need a PC to do the poop. try adding a little to your PF substrate and prepare as usual.

or just replace the BRF\verm mix entirely with poo and a little verm (remembering to put a verm seal ontop as usual) and prepare and fruit just like PF jars.

might be good.

Hello, welcome to the shroomery.

Now about the dung. What kind is it, horse cow sheep?
You should innoculate the pf jars let those finish Then do a search for roadkills horse poo tek. btw if you dont have an incubator i would recommend getting one, they be that shit that makes your jars grow so much faster dooood.
