I've been a lurker for a while.

I'll be taking a look around the East coast shortly and will update if I find anything useful.

Wow unbelievable.  Nice find, I usually don't start looking until the end of July this thread may motivate me to start looking sooner.  Think ill check my patch this coming week although I'm not very hopeful with the recent warm weather.

I would never have guessed the season would start this early but I doubt there will be any finds from anyone else for a while.  I hope someone can prove me wrong.  :crazy2:

way to go buddy, i love these kind of threads !! although libs are known as a fall mushroom, they can grow at other times, but its not documented ever! i find it hard to look at other times cuz the grass hasnt been cut yet or eaten down by cows .so its just really hard to look .
great job!

At what approximate altitude were they found?

I had a look yesterday.... nothing. The lifestock must be on our plates already because the fields are BARREN and the grass, sedge and the other plants were up to my chest and I'm 6 1". By the time I had a look, I was literally soaking wet with seeds all over me :dancing: I found some Coprinous, which made me jump a bit cause all I seen was this "yellowish" mushroom.
Hopefully dem sheep come back and all dat grass for me so I can see shit better.

Ah well, I did find some new Pan Cincs spot though!

Depends on the climate.
In Switzerland for example,  Libs grow between 600 m and 2000 m
because of the higher precipitation in the mountains.
They need a lot of rain and cool temps.
In Switzerland, Libs don't grow on the plains.

Makes sense. My experience is that they are usually found fruiting first
at higher altitudes. I believe this might be due to the slightly cooler
temps higher up that induces fruiting before it reaches the lowlands.

Holy moley is this even earlier than last years finds??

Heres to the start of another EPIC thread and eagerly awaiting the return of the seasonal UK shroomerites

Nice touch on the title which encourages ALL UK actives and not just Psilocybe Semilanceata , let's see if we can encourage more Panaleous Cinctulus and Psilocybe Cyanescens finds :awesomenod:. Also can anyone weed out Psilocybe Strictipes from the semi's or can the elusive Psilocybe Fimetaria be located?

Also looking forward to gratuitous lib porn of all the freakish mutants, monster sized and sterile gilled.

Heres hoping it's a good 'un, last year we all thought was gonna be a jackpot but that god dam late Indian Summer bamboozled the whole charade :pottymouth:

This was certainly noted last year, the early season wonders are all by those venturing up the peaks etc -just take one look on a weather site and it will be plain to see that the temps drop into range long before the lowlands do.

In my coastal position the season can come delivishly late and be very short (last year most places round here didn't even start :mad2: and there was only limited fruiting slightly higher in the wolds), the condtions are right for amuch more protracted period at higher elevations.

Last season in fact I was forced up the mountains to make any finds at all, such was the barrenness near to sea level.

Have wondered about this in past, years ago an older acquaintance used to mention "The weathers been right, might pop up ******* to see if I can find owt" in the Springtime. As young noobie pickers at the time we all thought he was a crackerjack but that has always stayed with me, or was he talking about the 'Red Caps'?

LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED RIGHT
