Here are four specimens of P. subcubensis, a species only known from Mexico, Central America, South America, Australia and Thailand. IT is indistinguishable from Psillcybe cubensis and is only different formthe latter by the size of its spores.
In this image we have four stagesd of the growth and developement of this species during its short life-cycle.

Very nice! They really look like cubes. Is it possible that some strains in circulations that are know as cubensis are actually subcubensis?

Here are pictures of indoor grown subcubensis: http://www.stainblue.com/cubensis.html. They seem like regular cubes.

I see you are updating your info.
It was last year that you made this post:
Quote:
Hi Blue Meanie,
There are no Psilocybe subcubensis in Argentina. Only Psilocybe cubensis.
Psilocybe subcubensis has only been identified as coming from Ecuador and not fromArgentina.
Here below is a list of the speices found in Argentina.
You might want to write to those spore vendor and let them know their ID is not correct.
What criteria do you use when gathering your information? What caused you to widen your reported habitat for subcubensis?

Taxonomy by Gaston Guzman, Jochen Gartz and Tjakko Stijve late of nestles Ldt.
The Subcubensis is reported from Ecuador, but no collections yet have been made of P. cubensis from Ecuador.

Just found the image and reposted it since the actual one I originally posted was a laser copy and this is from the slide on my scanner/

My friend Tjakko worked for more than thirty years at Nesles. His job was identifying trace elements in fungi after Chernoble and conducting psilocine/psilocybine research for Nestles. He retired last year which means late of Nestles LDT. They had been researching the mushrooms since the mid 1960s. My collections of shrooms from SOutheast Asia were taxonomically identified by those three mycologists who collaborated with me on their ID and on my papers published in journals. mj mj
