New Salvia cuttings

These salvia cuttings are from Stefan. They were rooted in boiled tap water for about a week and planted in peat based potting soil with perlite for added drainage. Several weeks later and the plants are growing nicely. They are currently growing in a high humidity environment.





Because of a continual battle with flea beetles and the negative effects of the difference pest control methods, I decided to start a new batch of salvia.

i killed my sally do to root rought, used this shitty mirecal grow soil all pine bark.
Very acidy also checking with PH meter ill have to order more 3 for 50 this time!! :confused:

I fine rooting is easily done with rain water.. i failed at every attempt with straight tap untill the rain came.. jojoba

Bluelou,

You should avoid root rot with good drainage. Add a layer of stones or perlite at the base of you pot. Ensure there are adequate holes at the base of your pot and water can drain away. Standing water is the problem, damp soil and wet soil will not cause any problems with salvia. Salvia thrive in damp soil.

As long as the water can drain when saturation is reached you want have any problems.

i have 100% success with plain tap water. i guess it depends on where your water is coming from.
