my experience with these things is that it takes a lot longer for them to heat up your PC. I don't know exactly why. I've done it many times and never had any problems though, it just took longer.

Here is my experience....
first...can I move in....thats a nice granite countertop and I recognise the Jennair downdraft range (is that the one with the center grill thats multi-configuration)

use a hot plate....the top WILL crack. My mother sold jennair and a ton of other products, quite a few were from improper use, like a large pot....the thermal conduction of the glass is different from the heating element and the rest of the top...and if the range doesnt belong to you...remember, it's about $1500 to replace it as opposed to $25 for a hotplate.....

My Jenn-air looks pretty much like yours, and it works wonderfully.  I don't think they even make burner elements that are as big as the pressure cookers are.  If you wanna spend some money tho, walmart sells things that are just solely heating elements.  buy the largest one they have for around 40$ i think, then plug-n-play

No, you don't need a lab quality hotplate or anything like that.  Go to WalMart or Target and go to the pots and pans and toasters area.  Look around, you'll find a burner attached to a plastic box with a dial and a power cord.  Thats it.   I got mine for like 25 bucks.  They also come in a side-by-side models with 2 burners if that pressure cooker is really so big.  I have a 22 quart PC (the biggest I've seen short of actual autoclaves in labs) and the single burner model works fine.  These hotplates are for like dorm rooms or other situations where you might be living with electricity but no kitchen or stove.  I personally have a gas range, and since it is the only thing in my apartment that uses gas (the heater and oven are electric) and since I don't cook much, i bought a hotplate instead of paying the monthly minimum for having gas and never turned my gas on.
Amazon sells one somewhat like mine:  Single Burner

I bought a dual element burner when I moved into the new house....it was 6 months before I bought a stove....it will work just using a single burner but on a PC that size you could use both for faster heating times....they get to baout 700deg.
and mine only cos $25.....that jennair runs a minimum of $1500 and the replacement top is about $400 and a bitch to install. Trust me....
