Spring cyanescens?
    #14660798 - 06/23/11 04:12 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Habitat:
Puget Sound area, western Washington state, in backyard coniferous wood chips.

Gills:
Cinnamon colored gills.

Stem:
Thin (3-5mm), white/fibrous, up to 8cm long.

Cap:
2-5cm diameter, tan/chestnut, thin/flat and wavy/saddle-shaped.

Spore print color:
Found mostly dried - did not get print.

Bruising:
Found mostly dried - did not observe.

Other information:
These came up in April/May after an unusually cool and wet spring in western Washington.  I'm just getting into mushroom ID, so didn't make detailed observations until they were rotting/drying in the ground this week.  After getting a field guide I took notice of the cyanescens-like features.  They have musky/earthy "wet dog"ish odor that reminds me of cyanescens I consumed years ago (didn't pick them myself).

Nope. Where's the blue bruising?

No, don't think they are. While there have been some found (one), would say extremely rare in our area...

Color for dried cap does not look right, stem looks hollow and no bruising at all.

Maybe an Inocybe sp.?

In that condition, all we can realistically do is speculate.

I agree..  Could be almost anything and would not eat them!  Will say I still do not believe they are any pysilocybe... Let alone cyan
