After using my brothers alienwear to download torrents i realized how slow my computer has gotten. It hasn't always been this slow though i just need to download some torrents faster. How can i do so? and how can i totally delete some programs such as limewire from my mac book?

More likely a network issue such as incoming connections being denied.

I love my mac and still

Appzapper is a good app for deleting programs you no longer use. It deletes all the extraneous folders that you sometimes miss by deleting regularly. My macbook was the same way, much slower startups, file menus slowing way down, and I did a clean reinstall and it helped the speed a great deal. This was after ~4 years of constant use.
Also, disabling dashboard if you don't use it will help speed up your mac too. Here are instructions and more explanation: http://www.macworld.com/article/46236/2005/08/disabledashboard.html
