"Religion thrives on yesturday and technology on tomorrow. The mind loves to ponder the past or play with the future because it finds the present a bore. While the past and future are nessacary places to visit, study and enjoy, they are harmful places to live. To live in the present is to find the fullfillment of the promise of happiness."

Awesome. This is a mantra I'm trying to live by now. What I think is difficult is to overcome my old habits of thinking and really make this idea a part of my default way of experiencing.

i wish i still had the pace to think like that. very true statement. right now, im everywhere though. a rather chaotic place. and when i go to sleep im always shot back and forth between past and future. the present is truely strange. o yes. it is.

It sounds like a very buddhist quote, is that guy a buddhist?

No I don't believe he was buddhist...most of the book is based on his Christian beliefs actually, but don't quote me on this I could be wrong.

I like that quote a lot because it does give credence to the past and future by saying they are necessary places to visit, study and enjoy; but then goes on to say that the past and present are harmful to live in.
I couldn't agree more completely, and I try to live my life this way. I try to be a sponge that soaks the goodness and beauty from every day that is given to me.

I want to make this very clear right now. You will not find the bliss of the present by quieting your mind all the way there like i know some of you think you can. I tried this for 2 years before it actually occured to me that i was always in the present moment, i just wasnt feeling it the way i should, and thats when energy raisng came in (focusing along key meridians of the body to release, or redeploy energy). Read my thread under " picking up negative vibes ", you'll see it.
