my dog told me:

cold shock, exposure to light, and fanning often always work with me. oh yeah when cold shocking i also dunk them. Also make sure your humidity is not to high and have plenty of patience

You can't have too much humidity for cakes. From the FAQ:

Primordia Formation:
Relative Humidify: 95-100%.

In a friend of mine's experience with BRF/verm. cakes waiting for the first signs of primordia formation before birthing has always paid off. Your first flush will be fatter so give it alittle time. Patience is a virtue...

Dunking is a means of rehydrating a dry cake.

My friend puts all the cakes into a larger pitcher, fills the pitcher with tap water and then weighs them down with a heavy pot lid. Cakes are very buoyant!

Remove them from the water in 6-12 hours and they're ready to fruit.

Wait...You place the BRF/ verm cakes directly in the water. Never done it before. Won't that cause damage to the mycelium?? If not please explain.

i read on mycotopia that fanning actually slows pinning because higher co2 levels help induce pinning

so what you shuold do is reduce fanning to 1x untill you see pins, then fan 3-4 times when fruiting

If you have 1/2 pint cakes, just put them in pint jars with a ball of tinfoil at the top, then put the lid on it. Throw 'em in the fridge, and birth 'em 12 hours later.
