Hey there Australia! I'm pretty new to the shroomery, but am a relatively experienced shroomer from New Zealand. Currently I'm in Australia(Victoria), staying with my girlfriend. I was just wondering though, what's the deal with the shrooms over here. Is it the same as NZ, growing in wood-chip gardens and damp forest? Would I just be looking for the same subs I find at my home patches? Am I going to get eaten alive going into your forests? (Just Kidding, but you know Kiwis, all so scared of snakes and spiders) Yeah, so any pointers or tips would be a great help.
Cheers, Saren

If you hunt subs in nz, then it would be the same in aus. A common place here is wood chips under eucalyptus trees.
With snakes and spiders, just keep your eyes open. It's winter now so unlikely you'll run across snakes. You'll most likely walk into spider webs though as you'll be looking at the ground. If you do happen to walk into a spider web, the only safe way to make sure you aren't gonna die is to do the freakout dance. The main moves of this dance include waving your arms, kicking your legs, rubbing your clothes and hair
Good luck!

Checked my spots today, found a couple but nothing amazing.
No signs of any thing fresh either

I got eaten by leeches in a forest the other day so yes. If its cold and wet you wont find any snakes, theyre cold blooded. Spiders and leeches though, yes they can and do bite! I took photos of them too but ive lost my camera cable

Well, I'm back. Didn't manage to see any huge spiders, didn't get chased down by any snakes, so I guess it's not as bad as over here as us Kiwis think.
Found a real decent woodchip garden, lots of different fungal life, but I'm not sure if what I found are subs or any type of psilocybe. The subs I pick back at home tend to look a lot different to the ones I see here on this site, so maybe that's why I'm unsure. Either way I'll post pics, feedback would be great.

Sorry about the bad pics, had to use my macbook webcam as I forgot my camera.

Guys, just wondering I have dried down my last find and there is about 8g of dry.
The calculator says for subs for a level 3 you only need 1.5g does this sound correct with your experiences??
I have a female friend who wants to try it and don't want to dose her to highly to freak her out! Do you need to adjust for body weight? She's about 60kg. I've heard you don't need to adjust but just want to be sure!
I've talked up the beauty of a mushroom journey and don't want to blow her into another dimension! I've only eaten fresh lately.
Thanks!

I'd go for 1 gram dried to start with.
that should be more that sufficient for her

They are stropharia aurantiaca/Leratiomyces ceres. No good for eating, you can throw them at folks you don't like though.

i dunno about this calculator thing... maybe im wired differently, but for level 3 id need 2.5 to 3grams dry and eaten dry, 2grams in a tea would be there too.
maybe im "used" to the effects and i expect more than i get for each level, or iv just got a natural tollerance [damn it!]?
adjusting for body weight is a hunk of shit, iv got a huge mate, 140kg? and he flies on 1.5grams dry, and iv seem small girls [around 60kg] underwhelmed on 2gram teas.
play safe, and just go with 1~1.5grams, youll have spare for next time if youve got 8grams dry.
