ID: Big brown; bright yellow mushrooms
    #14655293 - 06/22/11 06:58 PM (9 years, 10 months ago)

Habitat:
Found them by the roadside near school lawn. in heavy rain. You can see from pics: soil type-compost/wood chips. location: Mass

Cap:
the brown one is the size of my palm!

Other information:
The yellow one is really bright yellow (pics don't do it justice). I've not seen many natural things with such artificial golden bright yellow color. Anyone has any ideas what those are?

Some kind of Amanita I would think.

The brown one might be Amanita multisquamosa.

The yellow one might be in Amanita section Amanita.

When identifying Amanitas, it is important to carefully dig up the base of the stem and get good pictures of it.
