This is the best I have of the stem.  Didn't get a side on shot for some reason, I think I was tired and grumpy by then.  :tongue2:

Is the spore color on the gills the main clue this is Cortinarius and not Clitocybe nuda?

Yeah the rusty orange colour is quite distinct on the stipe and on the gills. I believe Clitocybe nuda has a pinkish coloured print.

I see it in that last photo, but without looking at the spore color I see how those those could be easily mistaken--not a mistake one wants to make either. Clitocybe nuda has more of a v. pale lavender/blue (almost appearing white) spore color than pink to my eyes. Thanks for the confirmation. Nice shots too!

Smell them, Clitocybe nuda has a fragrant scent, a bit like frozen orange juice.  Also, I get whitish prints here. :shrug:

Cheers naum, and yeah I was just going off what I've read for the spore print colour I still haven't manage to find C. nuda.  :sad:
