cheers, be sure to post you're rough % gains in strength/weights etc over a period of time. i am very interested to see how this works, post where you're at now, any breaks you've had, how much progress you've made before your cycle etc and what you're using as well as anything else you take/do during the cycle.

Starting yoga classes tomorrow after my workout to help me with my stretching and breathing. They run them free 3x a week at my gym so should be good, classes are pretty small too so that's always handy.
Will try to pick up a martial art as well this leave, to try and develop my situational awareness and co-ordination (I'm pretty clumsy at the best of times), was going for aikido but thinking something different, if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

I like olympic lifting more than power lifting.
I have scoliosis of the spine, and normal squats give me trouble with that, so I stick to deadlifts and front squats.
I am 6'1 around 160lbs. I haven't been to the gym in two months because I have been rock climbing so much, but my last deadlift max was the big three plates (woot!)
So 315lbs or 140kg deadlift was my best, hoping to come back to that soon.
My best snatch was around 121 lbs and the same for clean and jerk.
I need to get back to the gym soon, rock climbing is super awesome, but deadlifts are just not comparable for strength building.

Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security." Albert Einstein

Fantastic brother, keep us posted on how it goes! I myself try to practice yoga on a daily basis; for me yoga is a spiritual thing but it is also great for breathing and stretching as you stated along with a ton of other things! Do you know what type of yoga Ull be getting into?

deadlift 315x3 365x3 365x2 315x5
Standing Military press 135x3 155x2 135x5 95x8
squats 185x5 185x5
pullups with 25lbs 6-6-10 (i weigh 180, so 205lbs)
DB curls 35x10. Done. 1 set is all i use
First time doing squats so i have work to do. but im doing it 3 times a week so thats enough. And i no longer have chalk cuz i switched gyms (friends had chalk) so i can barely hold on to my deadlifts(hands sweaty). But it will improve.

Good stuff mate. I've never used chalk before and I want to get rid of gloves.. Is it that much better do you think?
Here's a challenge, try adding 2.5kg (5.4lbs?) Every squat day to your working set. I did and had no problem at all.
Also, what is the point of the 1 set of curls out of curiosity?
Don_vedo; I won't be doing bikram yoga that's all I know, hah. I'll leave that for later. How long have you been doing it for? I didn't intend on starting for any spiritual benefits but I'm sure its an added bonus
Cannashroom; is it possible for you to post a picture of your spine? I've seen some awesome pictures of dudes suffering your condition with some of the strongest back muscles I've ever seen. I've been trying to get my mum into deadz and squatz as she spends a lot of time trimming horses hooves so it can be quite hard on her back and hips

The 1 set of curls is my bicep workout.. lolz. Nah i do chin ups on the other day.. so those are my ONLY curls. Maybe i should take em out
CHALK was the SHIT. I need to buy some but am worried the ppls will complain at this gym. The other gym was a run down serious workout place. Chalk allowed me to lift things i couldnt lift. And i NEVER used the straps.
I never want to resort to needing gloves so i wont buy them. I refuse. And i take my shoes off for deadlifts... FUCK i forgot to do that today! no fucking wonder i couldnt pull 365 anymore. OMFG. pissed...

If your gym doesn't allow chalk, find a new gym!

Yeah get rid of those shoes mang. If you can, try invest in some vibram five fingers.. You will be amazed. I've got to go buy a new belt so I will pick up some chalk today. I usually try and do my working sets without gloves but I need to work on my grip so I'm not folding my skin, when I grab the bar I tend to "wrap" it as you would if you were trying to tighten straps around it. There is a way, I'll find it.
For your grip, I have another thing that may come in handy. Its like a little roller with a bit of string and a hook at the end for weights. You hold your forearms parallel to the ground (standing) and wind it up so you are winding the weight up. We do it with abt 5kg plate and omg after like 2 sets
Will try find a link

Aw common brother bikram is the shit! But u feel you it definitely isn't for everyone. I've been doing it for a couple years now, actually contemplating going down to do bikram teacher training so that I can teach it myself; I really enjoy it a lot brother, yoga has changed my life in multiple ways. You'll find it comes with soo many benefits.

here is what i was talking about, should help a lot with your grip strength... the boys use it for their rock climbing. shit is intensity in ten cities!!
don_vedo: i'll see how I go with this yoga, I've never done anything like it and a mate of mine who has done yoga for a while just started bikram and he said it makes him feel like he's been held down and viciously raped by the gods.
champion: good luck on the 555. If you don't reach 555 by the end of august, do you have a clause? (on Something Awful in their fitness forum they say if they don't reach a certain goal by a set date, they will perform a certain act, or donate to a chosen charity or w/e)
so, if you don't reach the 555 by august, what do you propose? on the flip side, if you do acheive it, what are you going to treat yourself with?
Here's my clause:
Goal: To lift 200kg x5 by August If I fail: I will buy the first member who reaches their goal a shroomery hoodie If I succeed: I will eat a goddamn KFC twister and 3 wicked wings and fucking enjoy it.

bikrams isn't so bad. It's tough forsure, but really rewarding. I was doing a work exchange at a studio last summer for a bit and doing it nearly every day...
I'd highly recommend bikrams when you come around to cutting some weight.

Ok, well the yoga is tomorrow 10:30am, and it's Hatha Yoga. There is 3 different types of yoga classes through the week, no bikram classes are taken at my gym though, I am also going to look at doing pilates as well.
I just got a great deal, I was walking out today after a killer session and the dude was like "look you obviously take this pretty seriously we're gonna offer you a discount for your renewal membership, 3 free massages and a PT lesson free" so I got $400 off
My PT lesson is 1pm Friday to learn my powercleans.
Today was fucking awesome!!
Did warmups and stretches
Squats (pwned) 20kg (bar) 1x5 40kg 1x5 70kg 1x5 100kg 1x5 125kg (275lbs) 3x5 (upped my working set by 5kg, I'm basically upping my squat weight every session... which is awesome, and 125kg today was pretty easy, too)
Bench - was happy with this too! Didn't break my PR but smashed my sets 20kg (bar) 1x5 40kg 1x5 60kg 1x5 80kg (175lbs) 3x5 I didn't even need a spot. Next bench day I will up to 85kg or 90kg.
Deadlift Another powerful session 60kg 1x5 100kg 1x5 140kg 1x5 160kg 1x5 180kg 1x5 (failure)
Great technique, I also bought my self a proper Harbinger weight belt, about time. My other belt is a cheap piece of shit. Lots of power in my deads and feeling extremely comfortable, I realised today that aiming for 200kg/440lbs by August is a very safe and realistic goal.
Dips 20kg 3x8, good with these, will try for 35kg next time.
Weighted Hyperextensions 15kg 3x8 Very happy with these
Followed by about 20 minutes of stretcing and 500m of very steady rowing on the rowing machine to cool down.
Today was hard, there were some ridiculously good looking and fit girls in the gym today, one in particular was doing all her workouts relatively close to where I was doing mine and she kept distracting me. Goddamn I need to get laid
Looking forward to yoga tomorrow and finally getting the powerclean lesson on Friday!!
It's now apparent that every day I am breaking PR's on at least one exercise!
whoop
