Is this Fox News or The Shroomery?
Haha, you're new it seems, the Political Discussion forum here has for a long time been overly-partisan, where both sides are demagogues on occasions, and other occasions. Western countries are just coming around to such a partisan level of enlightenment . It's fun to go back two/four years through the searches each time national elections come back up.
Still, good peoples, at least peoples with good taste.

hahaha what would make you say its fox news? cause many people are actually conservative? crazy to think there are conservatives out there who are not involved in the main stream media. you sound like my profs lol
Mainly the tag of "socialist" being tossed around like they know what they're talking about
Who make up this collective of people who are tossing around the tag of socialist like they know what they're talking about? Your claim that this is amusing has not been justified, and from my vantage it looks like yet another pompous screed made by folks with a prejudiced view of their ideological opponents.
Who here is exhibiting laughable misundertanding/misapplication of the adjective and metaphor "socialist"?

One of the primary tenants of socialism is social equality and a distribution of wealth (also known as social welfare). You admittedly support one of the big concepts that defines socialism. If you are not a socialist, what are you?

By that definition our government has been socialist for almost 100 years. Its hard to label my overall beliefs but socio capitalist is on the right track. The two opposites do not need to always conflict. One or the other don't work history has proven that. A strong private sector regulated to prevent manipulation should always be in a balance with a strong competeing government.

Government has no business competing with the private sector. Our government is supposed to exist to serve the private sector.

That is your opinion, why are you stating it as fact?

As I have explained for several years here it is a continuum. It tipped disgustingly into socialism with the coronation of FDR.

Once again. If it weren't needed, it wouldn't have occurred. Maybe if good old private sector would have done their part, we wouldn't have to be debating this. Free markets allow for redistribution of wealth the same way socialism does. One redistributes up to a select few on the backs of many, the other redistributes down to many on the backs of a few. There is no reason a pleasant balance between the two can't be reached that provides for (almost) everyone. You simply refuse this to be the case because you were brought up in the time where "America is free and we will defeat the commie scum" attitude was prevelent. China is a perfect example of combining capitalism with communism, which most think are conflicting ideologies.
To call yourself conservative is a mockery of the word. What you want to do is quite radical.

The difference is that free markets allow for it, while socialism requires it.

That doesn't even make sense.

If you consider China to be a perfect example of anything, you should just stop there.

What he wants to do was radical at the time of the American Revolution. It's not so radical anymore, except to people in most other countries on the planet.
