@jonstoned
I know somebody else will say something, but either use scissors or break them off at the stem, don't pull the whole mushroom out of the ground with the mycelium (the root system) still attached, I've seen people wreck patches in literally 1 hunt like that, you might go back and find nothing there next time if you did that for all of your finds.

No excuse for that kind of thing, chop it or snap it off.

Yeah buddy, mate pulled up those 2 just to move the myc and shrooms to his backyard, I made sure I told him that if he pulled to many it'll kill the patch
Don't worry mate, im not keen on destroying patches just want to spread the goodness

had a slight hunch that was what you were doing after all the talk of cultivation lately thought it would have interested you

Yeah i understand  every one we pick we cut (apart from the first hunt for lack of knowledge and cuttage) just didn't to those ones for growing purpose, don't know if it makes a difference having the myc on there for trying to get another patch but figured 2 out of the 20 wouldn't do to much damage

Want to grow haha, there's the challenge of growing indoors taunting me :frown:
Mate came up with a pretty good idea, getting one of those wine fridges where you can adjust it to the exact temp that you want, then its just a matter of light, oxygen and contams.... and having a bit of money to throw around on a fridge lol

picking even 2 out of a patch less then 50 would be damaging to a patch IMO, could be being over careful, but I wouldn't risk plucking myc from smaller patches like that. I recently took a friend to a small patch I know and he snuck off and picked pins and ripped myc out and the dude quite literally killed the spot in one hunt, theres been nothing there since. Never took him out again btw.

I've only ever taken myc from 5 subs maximum from a patch of 1000's and have come back to find mushrooms in the same place many times, it's best to be safe with our natural psilocybe patches.

I'm glad its being recycled at least though

yeah thought id seen that you cut them in ya other pics. i know you dont have the right conditions out where you live @jonstoned but just my personal opinion here but i highly recomend just going out into the hills and look for a very secluded place that know one will find and try growing them outdoors. i know its a hastle bro but it would be well worth it

@jonstoned, dont want to deter you dude, but the chances of indoor success are so slim I wouldn't even bother. It's much harder then you think, people say things like that subs need the natural bacteria in the environment to fruit properly, thats why it's so difficult to regrow them indoors. Theres much more involved in it then there is for almost any other mushroom cultivation, and barely any information to go off with subaeruginosa specifically.

Its way over the head of a noob, even experienced cultivators haven't been able to grow subs indoors as far as I know, that peace patrol dude (link on the last page), and one other one I've seen from europe are literally the only indoor sub success's ever.

Just keep it simple and do it outside, you can easily have a pot ready for next year.
its fairly easy, contams aren't a problem, the flushes will be much larger, and you can tip it out anywhere and make a larger patch.

Yeah for sure @Austrip & LOTG, seeing though we found them pretty much down his driveway (lives on a no through rd with no traffic) we're gonna get a buttload of spore spray happening and drench the whole stretch of the road, there's a creek at the end of the road also, going to go ape shit around there lol.

Cheers for the advice guys  yeah only going to stick to outdoor.

If we can get this spot happening, wont be a need to go anywhere else

Will we not see results from the spray until next season? Or will it be relatively fast as they are already growing around there?

yeah what austrip said lol however if indoor cultivation is what you want then try growing something other than subs, theres plenty of good and reliable spore vendors out there. perhaps try some warm climate dung inhibiting species

If you sprayed spore water today, theres a very slim chance you could see any fruiting next month MAYBE, but the season ends in august so doubtful.
whats more likely is it might help promote more growth around the area where they're already growing, I don't think it would make them pop up in new spots straight away though.

Next year though :mushroom2:

Try to find a choice spot, under a large tree in a good location that the water doesn't run into a river or anything, and concentrate the spraying of spore water under that one tree. That way the spores will be densely concentrated around that one area and have the best chance of producing a good amount of fruits from each year from then on, and you wont have far to walk.

@Austrip, cheers for that, there's a good 15 or so large euc's down his rd, I'll concentrate it around them. Mates not going anywhere either so next year isn't a problem, go out for a 10 min walk be set until next season lol

@LOTG, i tried looking around for Aus vendors but didnt really have any luck, i found one last year but since have lost all my bookmarks :frown:
They get sent in envelopes yeah? is there much chance of getting screwed over?
Might have a look into some cube prints when the time comes

Are you talking about prints...as in spore prints?

@Smokeandtoke, yeah spore prints buddy  would be easier than getting syringes I'm guessing?

Don't have the $$ atm unfortunately, cheers though buddy. Got ralphster bookmarked for a later date.
Got obtusifolia  bought 5 packets (50 seeds), planted a good 10  but then i lost my job and we had to move back to my partners parents house. Still got 4 packets of seeds, but they take so damn long to grow lol.
