Of the current field, who is your favorite GOP contender?
    #14633297 - 06/18/11 11:46 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Of the current field, I really like Gary Johnson(full of win) and Ron Paul(kooky but I like him). The others seem evasive in their responses to questions and seem to be a cut off the old neo-con cloth. Who do you believe is the most honest candidate?

Have you looked into Ron Paul and Gary Johnson. They are cut from a different cloth. You may not agree with their fiscal policy though. Especially, if you are comfortable with where spending is now. For me, Obama aint all that different from Bush. Both spend shitloads of money, both are cocksucking warmongers, both reniged on promises, both constrained liberty(imo), list gos on and on.

I've always been a Ron Paul fan.  He's a little over the top but out of all of them I like him the most.  Lets see what huntsman comes up with...

Penguin In Bondage,  Flakes,  but my favorite is Yo' Mama.  I find it has so many applications here.

I like Rudy.  I like Pawlenty, I like Perry and Christie but one won't and the other hasn't.  Yet.  I like Bachman OK but she will be destroyed by the vile slugs like Palin was.  I will accept Romney.  I will not accept Ron Paul or Mike Huckabee.  They both disgust me.

Haha, destroyed by the vile slugs like Palin was? I'm sorry but really? Just because the media amplifies the effect doesn't change the fact that politicians more often then not put their own feet in their mouth. You always claim folk need to take personal responsibility, allow politicians the same.

Really? Not a fan of hers personally, but at least she comes across as honest. She seems like the type that favors constituionality untill it conflicts with her own personal morals and ideology.

Imo, Palin was and is continuing to get fucked by the media. People would be surprised on some of her positions if they didn't form their opinion of her based on sound bytes.

I just want to see her campain teams' results. "Plan B- Take twice within 24 months to eliminate unwanted presidency". They're lots of good ones.

"Gary Earl Johnson (born January 1, 1953) is an American businessman, former Governor of New Mexico, and candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in the 2012 election.[2][3] He served as the 29th Governor of New Mexico from 1995 to 2003, and is known for his low-tax libertarian views and his regular participation in triathlons.

Founder of one of New Mexico's largest construction companies,[4] Johnson entered politics for the first time by running for Governor of New Mexico in 1994 on a conservative, low-tax, anti-crime platform.[5] He beat incumbent Democratic governor Bruce King by 50% to 40%. He cut the 10% annual growth in the budget by using his gubernatorial veto on half of bills in the first six months.[4] His use of the veto over his two terms gained him the nickname "Governor Veto".[6][7]

He sought re-election in 1998, winning by 55% to 45%. In his second term, he concentrated on the issue of school voucher reforms,[8] as well as campaigning for marijuana decriminalization. During his tenure as governor, he adhered strictly to an anti-tax, anti-bureaucracy program, and set state and national records for his use of veto powers:[4] more than the other 49 contemporary governors put together.[9][10] Term-limited, Johnson retired from politics at the end of his second term.

A fitness fanatic,[11][12] Johnson has taken part in several Ironman Triathlons, and he climbed Mount Everest in May 2003.[13] He announced his candidacy for President of the United States in the 2012 election on April 21, 2011."

From wiki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Johnson

Only reason I know of him is because he appeared in a few documentaries and I looked into him. I am glad he is getting national attention(albeit a small amount) on his positions.

a little more  from wiki

In an interview in Reason Magazine in January 2001, Johnson's accomplishments in office were described as follows: "no tax increases in six years, a major road building program, shifting Medicaid to managed care, constructing two new private prisons, canning 1,200 state employees, and vetoing a record number of bills."[23]

Andrew Sullivan quoted a claim that Johnson "is highly regarded in the state for his outstanding leadership during two terms as governor. He slashed the size of state government during his term and left the state with a large budget surplus."[37] According to one New Mexico paper, "Johnson left the state fiscally solid," and was "arguably the most popular governor of the decade . . . leaving the state with a $1 billion budget surplus."[38] The Washington Times has reported that when Johnson left office, "the size of state government had been substantially reduced and New Mexico was enjoying a large budget surplus."[25]

According to a profile of Johnson in the National Review, "During his tenure, he vetoed more bills than the other 49 governors combined — 750 in total, one third of which had been introduced by Republican legislators. Johnson also used his line-item-veto power thousands of times. He credits his heavy veto pen for eliminating New Mexico's budget deficit and cutting the growth rate of New Mexico's government in half."[39] Johnson has "said his numerous vetoes, only two of which were overridden, stemmed from his philosophy of looking at all things for their cost-benefit ratio and his axe fell on Republicans as well as Democrats."

I used to have that.  Bought it in a discount bin around 1970.  Sold it for about $100 around 1980.  I didn't much care for it.  My favorite part was the little story inside:

Quote:

These Mothers is crazy. You can tell by their clothes. One guy wears beads and they all smell bad. We were gonna get them for a dance after the basketball game but my best pal warned me you can never tell how many will show up...sometimes the guy in the fur coat doesn't show up and sometimes he does show up only he brings a big bunch of crazy people with him and they dance all over the place. None of the kids at my school like these Mothers...specially since my teacher told us what the words to their songs meant. Sincerely forever, Suzy Creamcheese, Salt Lake City, Utah

Why does this seem to be such a challenge for you?  I've been aware of Pawlenty for quite some time.  I believe I have read at one point some NY Times article, which I read cover to cover every day, that he wasn't all that.  I think Krugman wrote it.  But I would like to see your specific reference or read your specific point.

Sincerely forever, Suzy Creamcheese, Salt Lake City, Utah

i agree, it is good that i'm willing to vote for who i think is the best person for the job, and not listen to who the media tells me are the only possible winners.

the first time i was able to vote some people tried to tell me not to "waste my vote" on the 3rd party candidate. yet, i did vote 3rd party, and Jesse Ventura not only won, but was one of the best Governor's MN has had in over 20 years.

Maybe do a little snooping yourself so you won't start playing word games and sidetracking convorsation about how you don't seem to have a grasp on reality.

But if I were to just give it to you that would be socialism. Taking all my knowledge and distributing it to everyone?  Work for yourself dammit:shoosh:

Good lord what a fraud you are.

I'd vote for her.

Another excellent rebuttle.  Dismiss any claims with character attacks. Bravo, bravo.  Elevating the bar for any future discussion. :facepalm3:

You sound like the media that always hounded Jesse. More concerned with what he had done vs what he was trying to do.

Actually I was a huge fan of the job he did.  (at least from what I read) I was making a joke.

You gave me nothing to rebut or made any real claims.  Telling me to go find some unspecified information for myself is bullshit.  You haven't even offered the slightest shred of a clue of what you are babbling about.  Some discussion.  Out of politeness I'll ask once again.  What is it that you believe Pawlenty did that fucked Minnesota?

If a politician doesn't have a thick enough skin then he should get out of the game.  I don't recall any media hounding of Ventura but I only live in the media capital of the world.

We all live in the media capitol of the world-- its called the internet. How much media attention do most governors get outside their region?  Just like I have no idea what the governor of Tennessee is up to or who is on his ass, I doubt you ever were involved in the local media representation of Jesse Ventura.

Also, because you wont do a simple Google search, I need to for you?  I'll give you a hint: government shutdown.  Surely you haven't read anything about Pawlenty from any unbiased source if you haven't seen what his fiscal policy actually did to our state budget.

Do you think the internet was the media capital of the world in 2002 when he quit?  Once again, if you can't take even local media heat you really should stay with yo mama and not be governor.  That's what they do and it's what they're paid to do.  Only children don't know that.  I'm guessing you were about 10 in 2002.

Government shutdown sounds good to me.  Say, do you get all of your views from Daily Kos?

So now not seeking re-election is quitting?  I thought quitting was what Sarah Palin does...

Once again a play on my perceived intelligence saying " Only children don't know that. I'm guessing you were about 10 in 2002."

Ha government shutdown sounds great to you I'm sure, but I guarantee you'd be missing all the things government provides in only a short while after it was gone. And what is the Daily Kos? And why haven't you given any time of day to the original problem of you supporting Pawlenty even after his miserable failure as governor?
