Picking for a print????

Any tips or suggestions on selection of a cap for printing.????
should one tipically shoose the biggest fattest largest cap as it drops more spores... or a cap from a large abundent flush?
pros/cons of both?
I have a monster on the verge of being ready.. but it's from a 2nd flush on wich only 2 shrooms have grown *( casing made from wbs, straw , poop, bread pan 12x4x4 or so.. )
First flush gave a huge number of fruits.. none were printed.. but this one is a beauty and i'm thinking it over....

Why does one say "sacrifice"? After you spore print a mushroom, is it no longer good to eat? Im assuming that it is still good to eat afterwards. Thank you.

Yup, just dry it and eat it.
The sacrifice comes when you destroy the asthetic beauty of the shroom by cutting the cap off....
Apart from that it's go time.

Well. what i'm getting at was more along the lines of :
Are spores from a huge flush the same as spores from a small flush ( in relation to the number of fruits , not fruit size ).???
I would expect spores from a fast growing big fruit to be better than spores from a tiny cap of a mushroom that grew very slowly..... this is no what i'm asking.

Place the cap in a 1/4 pint jar and close. After it is done you can remove the cap and add water to make a spore syringe.

Yo Rob, My buddy has got a simple method for printing and it's worked great in the past. Simply sterilize a 1/2 pint jar a day or two before you are ready to pick and print the beauty. Let cool over night (say in an oven) in a cool, dark place. When your ready, cut the cap off right where it meets the base of the stalk and place it on the glass at the bottom of the jar. Seal the lid tight and store the jar, again in a cool, dark spot.
When printing be esspecially carefull to keep your workspace sterile!

Any nice cap will do. Take your first print after the veil breaks. Wait 24 hrs and then you can take another print with the cap if you want seen it done many times. There is a hole in the top of the plastic container and a bunch of coffee filters to allow the cap and print to let off moisture.

Leave the lid on the jar for no longer than two days. Remove the lid and place tyvek or another breathable barrier over the top and hold in place with a rubber band. It works just fine.

In my experience it has taken three days. You want to allow enough time for the spores to drop and make an even print. Whats the rush?

The biggest cap from your first flush seems to be the way to go.
You can make a decent print in 24 hours. Its actually easier to see the detail if its a little faint.
