So tough an elementary school student can play it.
loool yea...until the pitcher starts throwing 95mph and has a curveball that breaks 2 feet in height over a 60 foot distance

Human competition can be both physical and mental, and sports challenge both.
Do you anti-sports people not like the Olympic games? Personally I think they're one of the better competitive concepts humans have come up with.
What's wrong with finding out what can be done with the physical form? What's wrong with mentally challenging games? Do you hate chess? Sports are just a game, too. Yeah, some people don't see it that way, but some people don't believe in evolution. Those are the real monkeys, not the guys who've dedicated themselves to the physical and mental conditioning that sports require.

this thread, imo, is hardly about athletic competition and its merits. i think its more about why the fuck would you destory your own home? these people do not deserve to live in a modern city if this is whats going to happen any time there is an important event. like.. wtf?

Crowd behavior and group psychology is much different than individual psychology.
Stupid behavior is exacerbated by all sorts of environmental and personality characteristics that happened to be present in Vancouver at the right place and the right time.
It's just a case of irony that simple-minded behavior like attending a mass gathering to watch guys hit objects with a stick ends up breeding yet another case of guys hitting more inanimate objects with a stick.

what a disgrace. i believe its indicative of some deeper, more troubling issues. no one with respect for people and their effort to build a nice society would ever try to destroy it. i'm leaving the west asap.

Mob mentality behavior baffles me.
If all those people just disappeared, wouldn't the world be just a little better.

One thing that this event has made me realize is that great evil inspires great good.
I don't know if there can be one without the other.

Yeah, all the clean up and community spirit really felt good to see.
But do we really need that extreme to see the good? I hope not.

anyone and everyone is capable of the "mob mentality". you can't make it "disappear" by wishing a few thousand bros off the face of the planet.
--------------------
"We are all intoxicated. We were born into an insane asylum, a world crazy-making. We believe what we see and hear. The real myth is the myth of sanity, of rationality: it's a disease that is eating away at the earth. All the poisons flow from our denial. We deny madness, we forget our crimes, we dismember the corpse, we imprison our children. We need poison to poison the poison, to remember the sacred nature of intoxication, the green body of the young god." ~ Dale Pendell

I know, I was saying that if those that succumbed to that mentality where to disappear, would it be a bad thing.
I know a few idiots won't make a difference. Nor would trying to decide which mob is right or wrong...
More of a statement of "why?" "how?" "really?".
I know it is just a bunch of opportunistic hoodlums.
I just find it hard to understand what goes through their little minds.

in some cases, the psychology behind the mob mentality goes much deeper than just a few opportunistic tools.
check out this interesting article National Geographic did about sports riots:
