It means having a relaxed life. Yes you might have to work hard. Yes you should think about saving. But not having food, water, shelter, or clothes as a primary concern. Is relaxed. And able to get certain luxuries. (computer, car, extra bedroom, cable, etc..)
Just cuz they DO treat prisoners in horrible ways or treat women poorly of a lower class is a lower standard of living. Just bringing the women in alone cuts the higher standard of living by 50%

We, the rest of the world, have let y'all dream a dream of untold riches on our money, by letting you be the world reserve currency and turning a blind eye while you inflated it into oblivion.
Its time to wake up guys, we feel less and less like paying for your American dream.
"The rest of the world can't do a damn thing about it." you say, but over the past decades we the rest of the world have been extremely generous and to our dismay you have stopped producing and become completely dependent on our money.
Its been YEARS that I saw anything labeled "Made In The USA"
So we are easing our money away from you and you start inflating like a mofo so that theres the illusion of money coming in, and hollowing our holdings in U$D and treasuries.
No more drinks for you America, get your act together and you're welcome to return when you've sobered up.

you seem to have a pretty distorted view of the world, should NYC be considered a poor standard of living since apartments are tiny and the majority of people dont have a car

By the views if western society?
By the views of humanity. it is wrong.
Here i am talking overall standard of living and your talking about a small percentage of a country that is only 20 million people. Look at the overall percentages. Your comparisons are terrible.
Wicca is trying to lay it down. Bottom line is . . here we are. still here. I know many many many people that are thriving. We have reserves we havent tapped into and we have countries that we invaded with a snap of our fingers.

What we have right now is the illusion of a high standard of life when in fact we are just about at a point where there will be no more middle class at all. Its going to either be rich or poor. Just because we can invade a country does not make us prosperous and sooner or later (like Wiccan has stated) other countries are not going to allow it to happen for much longer.
Better eat ur hot dogs and cheeseburgers while you can.

you're comparing standard of living to the western ideal, you arent talking about quality of life, something far more important since many people are thrilled to live outside of your consumerist, 3 TVs in the bathroom, new computer and wifi, luxury car lifestyle... billions of people want to avoid your standard of living in the decadent indebted lifestyle, they're happy being self sufficient

Besides your typical stereotypes...
countries arent going to allow it anymore? wut?
Why am i failing to see this? am i that oblivious? maybe so..
I love the predictions of america falling. Yet every state i have moved to (2 in the last 2 years) I see people that are doing good. They have their cell phone with internet. They have their fafsa. They get medical care and dont pay for it. I am basing this off of what i believe is 'good'
Invading other countries has the 'possibility' to make us prosper. Not saying it will happen. But shit. We are the world's reserve dollar. We have tons of land with a small population compared to the densities of other countries. We can and will invade countries if we need resources/money.
The "will" is gone. But people can and do start up their own businesses here.
I enjoy my $3.50 gallon of gas compared to european countries.

All the wealth you see is fluffed up debt.
Quote:
32 States Have Borrowed from the Federal Government to Make Unemployment Payments; California Has Borrowed $7 Billion
EconomicPolicyJournal.com has learned that 32 states have run out funds to make unemployment benefit payments and that the federal government has been supplying these states with funds so that they can make their payments to the unemployed. In some cases, states have borrowed billions. As of May 20, the total balance outstanding by 32 states (and the Virgin Islands) is $37.8 billion.
The state of California has borrowed $6.9 billion. Michigan has borrowed $3.9 billion, Illinois $2.2 billion.
Below is the full list of the 32 states (and the Virgin Islands) that have borrowed from the federal government to make unemployment payments, and the amounts that remain borrowed as of May 20 . (Numbers in red are billions)
Alabama $ 283 million Arkansas 330 million California 6.9 billion Colorado 253 million Connecticut 498 million Delaware 12 million Florida 1.6 billion Georgia 416 million Idaho 202 million Illinois 2.2 billion Indiana 1.7 billion Kansas 88 million Kentucky 795 million Maryland 133 million Mass. 387 million Michigan 3.9 billion Minnesota 477 million Missouri 722 million Nevada 397 million New Jersey 1.7 billion New York 3.2 billion N.C. 2.1 billion Ohio 2.3 billion Penn. 3.0 billion R.I. 225 million S.C. 886 million S.D. 24 million Tennessee 21 million Texas 1.0 billion Vermont 33 million Virginia 346 million Virgin Islands 13 million Wisconsin 1.4 billion Total $37.8 billion
Source
Those arent strategic loans, those are holy mother of fuck we're out of money plz assist loans. $37.8 Billion doesnt seem much now with the bailouts and all, but thats about $150 per month, every month, per working American.

yes thats it.. hitler germany. It is somewhat of a comparison.. but our influence is far to great for most countries to even think of that.
even if our influence is going down. hitler germany? really?
Please tell me what those numbers mean besides the obvious debt or is that the idea??
I dont follow this stuff through and through but i do try my best when i have time.

Then listen to us and try not to blow us off when we are telling you the truth. The numbers above are exactly what it says....
Below is the full list of the 32 states (and the Virgin Islands) that have borrowed from the federal government to make unemployment payments, and the amounts that remain borrowed as of May 20 . (Numbers in red are billions)
Thats just borrowing to make up for unemployment. I am not sure of the total debt of these states. But in short. Because our "standard of living" was so high for so long we are beginning to see what happens when a country tries to maintain that high level even when it is not doing so in a responsible manner. We are doing most everything wrong.

part of this is Obama extending unemployment limits, instead of 6mos it was stretched to a year and he's recently done it again
