Tight fit.. inch more and it wouldn't fit :]
now.. I got myself a gas soldering iron since jet lighter I bought refused to work properly after 3rd jar.. makes me wonder if it's not gonna melt the needle?

I flame the needle so that most of it gets red hot. It hardly stays red in one place once you move the flame. I use a plumbers torch as well.
If its smaller than a 18g needle say a 21g it could possible melt. Mostly just be careful near the plastic.
Ps about jars..... Freecycles great I use it all the time. Haven't got any jars though. I'm up north and away from cities.
I've never bought a jar. I see it as getting them for free from the food that I buy. Jar sizes do effect some of the things that I buy though :P.
Its up to you though. If I have the money, I would buy a couple dozen 1L's.

Wow I thought that at first when i first saw that. But then I thought that we couldn't see the plate. I never looked at it till you said that though.

Hello again all, great job with the new thread Base.
If you're gonna be in London go to the huge Irish pub just off Leicester Square, I forget the name, sure one of the London boys will know it though. That place is killer, so many beers! 
Just thought I'd finally post in the new thread, not been on Shroomery much recently due to work and "other" projects. Mwahahaha!
Here's a thought though: never buy perlite from a garden centre!! I just got 100litres for £12 from a hydroponics shop, most of them seem to carry it at a similar price. Got enough to last several years of various applications I think.

Thanks for the tip man. going to be 700 beers at the beer fest so dont know if I'll have time for any more I'll only be in London for about 24 hours. Might be able to drop in there for a cheecky one if I'm near though 
My hydro shop wants 17 quid for one I think. I paid about that much for a 100L of verm I think, going to last me a while I rek. I might do an experimental run of different high percentages. I've heard that some of the amu guys would use 50% verm in subs. would cut down the amount of manure I need :P
Anyone tried adding perlite to subs? I've heard that it helps aerate the subs, and that its good for deep subs. I guess deep subs can go anaerobic sometimes.

I use around 50% verm > %50 manure in my bulks and they come out great. Usually add a little coffee/gypsum etc too, always had good results for actives though..

I use kitty litter trays or Celebrations chocolate tubs and fruit in SGFCs at the moment. They are around 4-5" deep with substrate. I like the 1:1 ratio cos it stretches my manure further.

Big news up here, I presented a proposal to National trust/local council, and I scored for a free stone barn on a very nice farm to start a commercial oyster grow!
Will be starting to fit it out soon. 
Barn is 35ft by 14ft. Not huge but enough to get it going on!
Will be putting up a thread soon, as Im gonna need a lot of advice, assistance and help from the good bods on here.

Hey folks - I'm new to the forum & UK based. Mostly just reading and researching things at the mo and came across this:

Manufactured in Germany and seems pretty reasonably priced - anyone have any experience/knowledege of these? Sorry if this has already had a mention in the old thread. I had a search and couldn't find anyhting so thought I'd post it here.

Yeah someone posted saying they'd recently purchased one, dont know who though.
The HEPA filter looks fantastic imo, much more compact than many DIY builds!
