they are probably not active but for an id you will have to give more details.
follow the format in the sticky thread at the top the the hunting forum.

P. stuntzii fruit sometimes in the spring, but most often on lawns. they usualy occur in mulch during the fall.

as a general rule, north american woodloving plisocybes fruit with the fall rains and are delligated to the coastal areas of the pacific northwest.

have you had any indication that they might be active (such as blueing) or are you just curious?

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

i'd love to see them and i'd be glad to take a shot at identification, though someone will likely beat me to it.

Next time make the print on white paper not on tinfoil. Have no idea who started that one.

Because only a few species are active. Mostly, they're Psilocybe mushrooms, and you can usually tell them just by looking. For the most part, they are small/medium sized mushrooms that stain an obvious blue to green colour when they're broken or bruised. Usually they have light grey to browny grey coloured gills and leave a purple or black spore print.

The easiest ones to find are called Psilocybe Cubensis. Look for them in the hot season the day after substantial rain. They grow directly out of cow shit, so look in cow paddocks. Make sure they have greyish gills and bruise blue, then post a pic here for people to ID.
