So a hacker group called lulzsec hacks many websites
    #14621345 - 06/16/11 07:38 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

including pbs.com, playstation, the escapist, eve online, and yesterday the CIA itself - in more than one instance releasing innocent people's user information. Public outcry, the government reacts by passing laws restricting the internet.

Just a hypothesis, and maybe I'm just a little :feelsparanoidman: but I wouldn't be so quick to jump on their bandwagon. Whose to say lulzsec isn't Barack Obama himself?

They hacked the CIA public website.
They emphatically did not "hack into the CIA itself".

You mad?

Doesn't matter anyways the neo-militarists will be taking down or severely limiting access to the interwebz any day now

Once you start releasing personal info to the public domain or cause severe disruption, you are moving from ethical hacking into cybercrime.

 I'm just saying I clearly have "website" in the link we have both clicked, unless you missed it. All the same, I agree, the internet won't be as unrestricted as time passes inevitably.

Yeah, the CIA doesn't like to admit it, but they employ some of the worlds top computer hackers so they can collect info on pretty much anything they need to over the web. Encrypted bank accounts, emails, stuff like that.

I'm pretty sure that anything that is considered "top secret" or important to national security is kept down in the Ft. Knox of firewalls that any amateur group of hackers would never be able to break into.

The public CIA website is probably not any more guarded than the department of education's website

Yeah, I don't think that the CIA accidentally left proof of aliens on their public website domain but it's in the news; making headlines here and there, I actually saw a news person say "lulz security" today. You can't expect the government not to respond, unless of course - it is the government :kingtard:

Large cities are cool.  There is a shit ton of home wifi networks.  If enough people would setup their routers to be an ad-hoc network there would be a secondary internet that could be born. a sort of underground network so to speak.

just sayin'

Fuck a second internet? :realpacman:  That's interesting, though. So the internet "structure" is just the sum of it's inhabitants?

Vigilantism, is it good or bad?

These guys are not to be admired and are going to bring consequences for the regular people by hurting regular people. I hope they get put in jail to be honest.

That's pretty fucked I agree, but radicals will be radical.  I mean look at the world, our paradigm is shifting I honestly believe- and for better or worse the interwebz is a huge factor if not the whole reason for this.

Yes, yes, "some men just want to watch the world burn"

It's fucking crazy though if you think about it. The world is so instant now, I have a god damn computer in my pocket that calls people. People who never would have been able to from every kind of sect, religion, and type is interacting with another different person every day. We are experiencing more than we ever have as a species every day and it is only going to get faster and better. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj

Again I agree, instant gratification is amongst us.  I know I'm not the first one to say it but hopefully out of all of this chaos there is really a divine order awaiting to emerge and let us present ourselves with the wonderful world we should be living in already.

THat has to be a troll comment.  Also, you think paypal doesn't record who logs in from where, what browser they used, information about the serial number (yes, you can get that information visiting a website)?
