I keep my tubs in the basement with just the light from the window...  works just fine...  unless you're looking for stealth...  I found a 6500k cfl bulb that i just screwed into a desk lamp...  works great..
indirect natural light works just fine, IMO...

good luck!

light is definitely important

but if youre interested in mushroom cultivation, it should be close to one of the last things on your mind

do you have a fruiting chamber?
do you have cakes/trays, etc ready to fruit?

or are you just entertaining the thought of growing mushrooms

i guess none of that answered your question...

yes 15w is plenty

Compare this to the color of light that comes off the light you have. If it seems at all orange/red/cream. and not white or baby blue then you have something low K.

ive looked up aquarium lighting, and the page i read stated that lighting should reflect what the fish you have recieve in there natural enviroment.

And since water reflects light this can change the frequency depending on how deep and where the fish live, the depth, weather conditions, water clarity etc. so based on that aquarium lighting could come in a variety of colour temps.

A daylight bulb will give off a nice natural light , a cool bulb will give of a white that just looks cold and sometimes just verging on the slightest hint of blue.

it looks white with the slightest hint of blue. i guess thats about 5000 k. if i did decide to produce i would probaly just buy the 15 w cfl to be on the safe side.

Is the light for growing corals if so do not use it.

If it is a regular bright floro then your fine.

i never had a problem with light. a couple of 65k compact floros that i bought for five bucks did the trick for 10 monotubs. so yeah. simple.
